וַיֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֣יד הַמֶּ֡לֶךְ לְכָ֣ל הַקָּהָ֡ל שְׁלֹמֹ֨ה בְנִ֤י אֶחָד֙ בָּחַ֣ר בּ֣וֹ אֱלֹהִ֔ים נַ֖עַר וָרָ֑ךְ וְהַמְּלָאכָ֣ה גְד֔וֹלָה כִּ֠י לֹ֠א לְאָדָ֛ם הַבִּירָ֖ה כִּ֥י לַ֥יהוָה אֱלֹהִֽים׃

KJVFurthermore David the king said unto all the congregation, Solomon my son, whom alone God hath chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great: for the palace is not for man, but for the LORD God.

And King David said to all the assembly: Solomon my son, whom alone God has chosen, is young and inexperienced, and the work is great, for the palace will not be for man but for the LORD God.

וּכְכָ֣ל כֹּחִ֗י הֲכִינ֨וֹתִי לְבֵ֤ית אֱלֹהַי֙ הַזָּהָ֣ב לַזָּהָ֔ב וְהַכֶּ֥סֶף לַכֶּ֖סֶף וְהַנְּחֹ֣שֶׁת לַנְּחֹ֑שֶׁת הַבַּרְזֶ֣ל לַבַּרְזֶ֗ל וְהָעֵצִ֤ים לָעֵצִים֙ אַבְנֵ֣י שֹׁ֣הַם וּמִ֣לּוּאִ֣ים אַבְנֵי פוּ֣ךְ וְרִקְמָ֡ה וְכֹ֣ל אֶ֣בֶן יְקָרָ֣ה וְאַבְנֵ֥י שַׁ֠יִשׁ לָרֹֽב׃

KJVNow I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for things to be made of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the brass for things of brass, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood; onyx stones, and stones to be set, glistering stones, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.

So with all my resources I have provided for the house of my God: gold for the things of gold, silver for the things of silver, bronze for the things of bronze, iron for the things of iron, and wood for the things of wood, besides great quantities of onyx and stones for setting, antimony, colored stones, all sorts of precious stones and marble.

וְע֣וֹד בִּרְצוֹתִ֗י בְּבֵ֤ית אֱלֹהַי֙ יֶשׁ לִ֣י סְגֻלָּ֔ה זָהָ֥ב וָכֶ֖סֶף נָתַ֥תִּי לְבֵ֣ית אֱלֹהַ֑י לְמַ֥עְלָה מִכָּ֖ל הֲכִינ֥וֹתִי לְבֵ֥ית הַקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃

KJVMoreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,

Moreover, in addition to all that I have provided for the holy house, I have a treasure of my own of gold and silver, and because of my devotion to the house of my God I give it to the house of my God:

שְׁלֹ֨שֶׁת אֲלָפִ֤ים כִּכְּרֵי זָהָב֙ מִזְּהַ֣ב אוֹפִ֔יר וְשִׁבְעַ֨ת אֲלָפִ֤ים כִּכַּר֙ כֶּ֣סֶף מְזֻקָּ֔ק לָטוּ֖חַ קִיר֣וֹת הַבָּתִּ֑ים׃

KJVEven three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses withal:

3,000 talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and 7,000 talents of refined silver, for overlaying the walls of the houses,

לַזָּהָ֤ב לַזָּהָב֙ וְלַכֶּ֣סֶף לַכֶּ֔סֶף וּלְכָ֧ל מְלָאכָ֛ה בְּיַ֥ד חָרָשִׁ֖ים וּמִ֣י מִתְנַדֵּ֑ב לְמַלֹּ֥אות יָד֛וֹ הַיּ֖וֹם לַיהוָֽה׃

KJVThe gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all manner of work to be made by the hands of artificers. And who then is willing to consecrate his service this day unto the LORD?

and for all work to be done by craftsmen, gold for the things of gold and silver for the things of silver. Who then will offer willingly, consecrating himself today to the LORD?

וַיִּתְנַדְּב֞וּ שָׂרֵ֣י הָאָב֗וֹת וְשָׂרֵ֛י שִׁבְטֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וְשָׂרֵ֣י הָאֲלָפִ֣ים וְהַמֵּאוֹ֑ת וּלְשָׂרֵ֖י מְלֶ֥אכֶת הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

KJVThen the chief of the fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king's work, offered willingly,

Then the leaders of fathers' houses made their freewill offerings, as did also the leaders of the tribes, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the officers over the king's work.

וַיִּתְּנ֣וּ לַעֲבֹדַ֣ת בֵּ֣ית הָ֠אֱלֹהִ֠ים זָהָ֞ב כִּכָּרִ֣ים חֲמֵ֣שֶׁת אֲלָפִ֣ים וַעֲשֶׂ֣רֶת אֲלָפִ֣ים וְכֶ֣סֶף כִּכָּרִים֩ עֲשֶׂ֨רֶת אֲלָפִ֜ים וּנְחֹ֗שֶׁת רְבָבָ֤ה וּשְׁמוֹנַ֙ת אֲלָפִ֣ים כִּכָּ֔רִים וּבַרְזֶ֖ל מֵאָ֥ה אֶ֖לֶף כִּכָּרִֽים׃

KJVAnd gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand drams, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and one hundred thousand talents of iron.

They gave for the service of the house of God 5,000 talents and 10,000 drams of gold, 10,000 talents of silver, 18,000 talents of bronze and 100,000 talents of iron.

וְהַנִּמְצָ֨א אִתּ֤וֹ אֲבָנִים֙ נָתְנ֔וּ לְאוֹצַ֖ר בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה עַ֥ל יַ֖ד יְחִיאֵ֥ל הַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּֽי׃

KJVAnd they with whom precious stones were found gave them to the treasure of the house of the LORD, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.

And whoever had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the LORD, in the care of Jehiel the Gershonite.

וַיִּשְׂמְח֣וּ הָ֠עָ֠ם עַל הִֽתְנַדְּבָ֗ם כִּ֣י בְּלֵ֣ב שָׁלֵ֡ם הִֽתְנַדְּבוּ֩ לַ֙יהוָה֙ וְגַ֣ם דָּוִ֣יד הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ שָׂמַ֖ח שִׂמְחָ֥ה גְדוֹלָֽה׃

KJVThen the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.

Then the people rejoiced because they had given willingly, for with a whole heart they had offered freely to the LORD. David the king also rejoiced greatly.

וַיְבָ֤רֶךְ דָּוִיד֙ אֶת יְהוָ֔ה לְעֵינֵ֖י כָּל הַקָּהָ֑ל וַיֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֔יד בָּר֤וּךְ אַתָּה֙ יְהוָ֔ה אֱלֹהֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵ֥ל אָבִ֖ינוּ מֵעוֹלָ֥ם וְעַד עוֹלָֽם׃

KJVWherefore David blessed the LORD before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be thou, LORD God of Israel our father, for ever and ever.

Therefore David blessed the LORD in the presence of all the assembly. And David said: Blessed are you, O LORD, the God of Israel our father, forever and ever.

לְךָ֣ יְהוָ֗ה הַגְּדֻלָּ֤ה וְהַגְּבוּרָה֙ וְהַתִּפְאֶ֔רֶת וְהַנֵּ֖צַח וְהַה֑וֹד כִּ֤י כֹ֣ל בַּשָּׁמַ֣יִם וּבָאָ֣רֶץ לְ֠ךָ֠ לְךָ֤ יְהוָה֙ הַמַּמְלָכָ֔ה וְהַמִּתְנַשֵּׂ֖א לְכֹ֥ל לְרֹֽאשׁ׃

KJVThine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.

Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all.

וְהָֽעֹשֶׁ֤ר וְהַכָּבוֹד֙ מִלְּפָנֶ֔יךָ וְאַתָּ֞ה מוֹשֵׁ֣ל בַּכֹּ֑ל וּבְיָדְךָ֗ כֹּ֚חַ וּגְבוּרָ֔ה וּבְיָדְךָ֖ לְגַדֵּ֥ל וּלְחַזֵּ֥ק לַכֹּֽל׃

KJVBoth riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.

Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all.

וְעַתָּ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ מ֥וֹדִים אֲנַ֖חְנוּ לָ֑ךְ וּמְהַלְלִ֖ים לְשֵׁ֥ם תִּפְאַרְתֶּֽךָ׃

KJVNow therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.

And now we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name.

וְכִ֣י מִ֣י אֲנִי֮ וּמִ֣י עַמִּי֒ כִּֽי נַעְצֹ֣ר כֹּ֔חַ לְהִתְנַדֵּ֖ב כָּזֹ֑את כִּ֤י מִמְּךָ֙ הַכֹּ֔ל וּמִיָּדְךָ֖ נָתַ֥נּוּ לָֽךְ׃

KJVBut who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.

But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.

כִּי גֵרִ֤ים אֲנַ֙חְנוּ֙ לְפָנֶ֔יךָ וְתוֹשָׁבִ֖ים כְּכָל אֲבֹתֵ֑ינוּ כַּצֵּ֤ל יָמֵ֙ינוּ֙ עַל הָאָ֔רֶץ וְאֵ֖ין מִקְוֶֽה׃

KJVFor we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding.

For we are strangers before you and sojourners, as all our fathers were. Our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no abiding.

יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ כֹּ֣ל הֶהָמ֗וֹן הַזֶּ֛ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֲכִינ֖וֹנוּ לִבְנ֥וֹת לְ֠ךָ֠ בַּ֣יִת לְשֵׁ֣ם קָדְשֶׁ֣ךָ מִיָּדְךָ֥ ה֖וּא וּלְךָ֥ הַכֹּֽל׃

KJVO LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own.

O LORD our God, all this abundance that we have provided for building you a house for your holy name comes from your hand and is all your own.

וְיָדַ֤עְתִּי אֱלֹהַ֙י֙ כִּ֣י אַתָּ֣ה בֹחֵ֣ן לֵ֔בָב וּמֵישָׁרִ֖ים תִּרְצֶ֑ה אֲנִ֗י בְּ֝יֹ֗שֶׁר לְבָבִ֛י הִתְנַדַּ֥בְתִּי כָל אֵ֖לֶּה וְעַתָּ֗ה עַמְּךָ֥ הַנִּמְצְאוּ פֹ֣ה רָאִ֗יתִי בְּשִׂמְחָ֛ה לְהִֽתְנַדֶּב לָֽךְ׃

KJVI know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee.

I know, my God, that you test the heart and have pleasure in uprightness. In the uprightness of my heart I have freely offered all these things, and now I have seen your people, who are present here, offering freely and joyously to you.

יְהוָ֡ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י אַבְרָהָ֣ם יִצְחָ֣ק וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֡ל אֲבֹתֵינוּ֩ שְׁמֹ֨ר זֹ֤את לְעוֹלָם֙ לְיֵ֤צֶר מַחְשְׁבוֹת֙ לְבַ֣ב עַמֶּ֔ךָ וְהָכֵ֥ן לְבָבָ֖ם אֵלֶֽיךָ׃

KJVO LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their heart unto thee:

O LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep forever such purposes and thoughts in the hearts of your people, and direct their hearts toward you.

וְלִשְׁלֹמֹ֣ה בְנִ֗י תֵּ֚ן לֵבָ֣ב שָׁלֵ֔ם לִשְׁמ֖וֹר מִצְוֹתֶ֧יךָ עֵדְוֹתֶ֛יךָ וְחֻקֶּ֖יךָ וְלַעֲשׂ֣וֹת הַכֹּ֑ל וְלִבְנ֣וֹת הַבִּירָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֖ר הֲכִינֽוֹתִי׃

KJVAnd give unto Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the palace, for the which I have made provision.

Grant to Solomon my son a whole heart that he may keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your statutes, performing all, and that he may build the palace for which I have made provision.

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֣יד לְכָ֣ל הַקָּהָ֡ל בָּרְכוּ נָ֣א אֶת יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֣ם וַיְבָ֣רֲכוּ כָ֠ל הַקָּהָ֞ל לַיהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֵ֙י אֲבֹתֵיהֶ֔ם וַיִּקְּד֧וּ וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲו֛וּ לַ֖יהוָה וְלַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

KJVAnd David said to all the congregation, Now bless the LORD your God. And all the congregation blessed the LORD God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and worshipped the LORD, and the king.

Then David said to all the assembly: Bless the LORD your God. And all the assembly blessed the LORD, the God of their fathers, and bowed their heads and paid homage to the LORD and to the king.

וַיִּזְבְּח֨וּ לַ֤יהוָה זְבָחִים֙ וַיַּעֲל֣וּ עֹל֣וֹת לַ֣יהוָה לְמָחֳרָ֡ת הַיּוֹם֩ הַה֨וּא פָּרִ֤ים אֶ֙לֶף֙ אֵילִ֣ים אֶ֔לֶף כְּבָשִׂ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף וְנִסְכֵּיהֶ֑ם וּזְבָחִ֥ים לָרֹ֖ב לְכָ֥ל יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJVAnd they sacrificed sacrifices unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings unto the LORD, on the morrow after that day, even a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel:

And they offered sacrifices to the LORD, and on the next day offered burnt offerings to the LORD, 1,000 bulls, 1,000 rams, and 1,000 lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.

וַיֹּאכְל֧וּ וַיִּשְׁתּ֛וּ לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָ֖ה בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֑וּא בְּשִׂמְחָ֣ה גְד֣וֹלָ֔ה וַיַּמְלִ֤יכוּ שֵׁנִית֙ לִשְׁלֹמֹ֣ה בֶן דָּוִ֔יד וַיִּמְשְׁח֥וּ לַ֣יהוָ֔ה לְנָגִ֖יד וּלְצָד֥וֹק לְכֹהֵֽן׃

KJVAnd did eat and drink before the LORD on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him unto the LORD to be the chief governor, and Zadok to be priest.

וַיֵּ֤שֶׁב שְׁלֹמֹה֙ עַל כִּסֵּ֣א יְהוָ֔ה לְמֶ֖לֶךְ תַּ֣חַת דָּוִ֣יד אָבִ֑יו וַיַּצְלַ֖ח וַיִּשְׁמְע֥וּ אֵלָ֖יו כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJVThen Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.

Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king in place of David his father. And he prospered, and all Israel obeyed him.

וְכָ֨ל הַשָּׂרִ֤ים וְהַגִּבּוֹרִים֙ וְגַ֣ם כָּל בְּנֵ֣י הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִ֔יד נָ֥תְנוּ יָ֖ד תַּ֣חַת שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

KJVAnd all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves unto Solomon the king.

All the officials and the mighty men, and also all the sons of King David, pledged their allegiance to King Solomon.

וַיְגַדֵּ֤ל יְהוָה֙ אֶת שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה לְמַ֖עְלָה לְעֵינֵ֣י כָל יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּתֵּ֤ן עָלָיו֙ ה֣וֹד מַלְכ֔וּת אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא הָיָה֙ עַל כָּ֣ל מֶ֣לֶךְ לְפָנָ֔יו עַל יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJVAnd the LORD magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed upon him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel.

KJVAnd the time that he reigned over Israel was forty years; seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem.

The time that he reigned over Israel was forty years. He reigned seven years in Hebron and thirty-three years in Jerusalem.

וַיָּ֣מָת בְּשֵׂיבָ֣ה טוֹבָ֡ה שָׂבֵ֣עַ יָמִ֣ים עֹ֣שֶׁר וְכָב֡וֹד וַיִּמְלֹ֣ךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה בְנ֣וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃

KJVAnd he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honour: and Solomon his son reigned in his stead.

Then he died at a good age, full of days, riches, and honor. And Solomon his son reigned in his place.

וְדִבְרֵ֣י דָוִ֣יד הַמֶּ֡לֶךְ הָרִאשֹׁנִ֣ים וְהָאַחֲרֹנִ֣ים הִנָּ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֡ים עַל דִּבְרֵי֩ שְׁמוּאֵ֨ל הָרֹאֶ֜ה וְעַל דִּבְרֵ֤י נָתָן֙ הַנָּבִ֔יא וְעַל דִּבְרֵ֖י גָּ֥ד הַחֹזֶֽה׃

KJVNow the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer,

עִ֣ם כָּל מַלְכוּת֗וֹ וּגְבוּרָת֣וֹ וְהָעִתִּים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָבְר֣וּ עָלָ֔יו וְעַל יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְעַל כָּל מַמְלְכ֖וֹת הָאֲרָצֽוֹת׃

KJVWith all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.
