וַיַּ֥עַן בִּלְדַּ֖ד הַשּׁוּחִ֑י וַיֹּאמַֽר׃
KJVThen answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said:
2
עַד אָ֤נָה ׀ תָּשִׂימוּן֮ קִנְצֵ֪י לְמִ֫לִּ֥ין תָּ֭בִינוּ וְאַחַ֥ר נְדַבֵּֽר׃
KJVHow long will it be ere ye make an end of words? mark, and afterwards we will speak.
How long will you hunt for words? Consider, and then we will speak.

מַ֭דּוּעַ נֶחְשַׁ֣בְנוּ כַבְּהֵמָ֑ה נִ֝טְמִ֗ינוּ בְּעֵינֵיכֶֽם׃
KJVWherefore are we counted as beasts, and reputed vile in your sight?
Why are we counted as cattle? Why are we stupid in your sight?

טֹֽרֵף נַפְשׁ֤וֹ ׀ בְּאַפּ֗וֹ הַלְמַ֣עַנְךָ תֵּעָזַ֣ב אָ֑רֶץ וְיֶעְתַּ֖ק צ֣וּר מִמְּקֹמֽוֹ׃
KJVHe teareth himself in his anger: shall the earth be forsaken for thee? and shall the rock be removed out of his place?
You who tear yourself in your anger — shall the earth be forsaken for you, or the rock be removed out of its place?

גַּ֤ם א֣וֹר רְשָׁעִ֣ים יִדְעָ֑ךְ וְלֹא יִ֝גַּ֗הּ שְׁבִ֣יב אִשּׁוֹ׃
KJVYea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine.
Indeed, the light of the wicked is put out, and the flame of his fire does not shine.

א֭וֹר חָשַׁ֣ךְ בְּאָהֳל֑וֹ וְ֝נֵר֗וֹ עָלָ֥יו יִדְעָֽךְ׃
KJVThe light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his candle shall be put out with him.
The light in his tent is dark, and his lamp above him is put out.

יֵ֭צְרוּ צַעֲדֵ֣י אוֹנ֑וֹ וְ֝תַשְׁלִיכֵ֗הוּ עֲצָת֥וֹ׃
KJVThe steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down.
His strong steps are shortened, and his own schemes throw him down.

כִּֽי שֻׁלַּ֥ח בְּרֶ֗שֶׁת בְּ֫רַגְלָ֥יו וְעַל שְׂבָכָ֥ה יִתְהַלָּֽךְ׃
KJVFor he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walketh upon a snare.
For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walks on its mesh.

יֹאחֵ֣ז בְּ֭עָקֵב פָּ֑ח יַ֝חֲזֵ֗ק עָלָ֥יו צַמִּֽים׃
KJVThe gin shall take him by the heel, and the robber shall prevail against him.
A trap seizes him by the heel; a snare lays hold of him.

טָמ֣וּן בָּאָ֣רֶץ חַבְל֑וֹ וּ֝מַלְכֻּדְתּ֗וֹ עֲלֵ֥י נָתִֽיב׃
KJVThe snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.
A rope is hidden for him in the ground, a trap for him in the path.

סָ֭בִיב בִּֽעֲתֻ֣הוּ בַלָּה֑וֹת וֶ֝הֱפִיצֻ֗הוּ לְרַגְלָֽיו׃
KJVTerrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet.
Terrors frighten him on every side, and chase him at his heels.

יְהִי רָעֵ֥ב אֹנ֑וֹ וְ֝אֵ֗יד נָכ֥וֹן לְצַלְעֽוֹ׃
KJVHis strength shall be hungerbitten, and destruction shall be ready at his side.
His strength is famished, and calamity is ready for his stumbling.

יֹ֣אכַל בַּדֵּ֣י עוֹר֑וֹ יֹ֝אכַ֗ל בַּדָּ֥יו בְּכֽוֹר מָֽוֶת׃
KJVIt shall devour the strength of his skin: even the firstborn of death shall devour his strength.
It consumes the parts of his skin; the firstborn of death consumes his limbs.
14
יִנָּתֵ֣ק מֵאָהֳל֣וֹ מִבְטַח֑וֹ וְ֝תַצְעִדֵ֗הוּ לְמֶ֣לֶךְ בַּלָּהֽוֹת׃
KJVHis confidence shall be rooted out of his tabernacle, and it shall bring him to the king of terrors.
He is torn from the tent in which he trusted and is brought to the king of terrors.
15
תִּשְׁכּ֣וֹן בְּ֭אָהֳלוֹ מִבְּלִי ל֑וֹ יְזֹרֶ֥ה עַל נָ֝וֵ֗הוּ גָּפְרִֽית׃
KJVIt shall dwell in his tabernacle, because it is none of his: brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.
In his tent dwells that which is none of his; sulfur is scattered over his dwelling.
16
מִ֭תַּחַת שָׁרָשָׁ֣יו יִיבָ֑שׁוּ וּ֝מִמַּ֗עַל יִמַּ֥ל קְצִירֽוֹ׃
KJVHis roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off.
His roots dry up beneath, and his branches wither above.
17
זִכְר֣וֹ אָ֭בַד מִן אֶ֑רֶץ וְלֹא שֵׁ֝ם ל֗וֹ עַל פְּנֵי חֽוּץ׃
KJVHis remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the street.
His memory perishes from the earth, and he has no name in the street.
18
יֶהְדְּפֻ֥הוּ מֵא֥וֹר אֶל חֹ֑שֶׁךְ וּֽמִתֵּ֥בֵל יְנִדֻּֽהוּ׃
KJVHe shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.
He is thrust from light into darkness, and driven out of the world.
19
לֹ֥א נִ֗ין ל֥וֹ וְלֹא נֶ֑כֶד בְּ֝עַמּ֗וֹ וְאֵ֣ין שָׂרִ֥יד בִּמְגוּרָֽיו׃
KJVHe shall neither have son nor nephew among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings.
He has no posterity or progeny among his people, and no survivor where he used to live.
20
עַל יוֹמ֣וֹ נָ֭שַׁמּוּ אַחֲרֹנִ֑ים וְ֝קַדְמֹנִ֗ים אָ֣חֲזוּ שָֽׂעַר׃
KJVThey that come after him shall be astonied at his day, as they that went before were affrighted.
They of the west are appalled at his day, and horror seizes them of the east.
21
אַ֣ךְ אֵ֭לֶּה מִשְׁכְּנ֣וֹת עַוָּ֑ל וְ֝זֶ֗ה מְק֣וֹם לֹא יָדַ֥ע אֵֽל׃
KJVSurely such are the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place of him that knoweth not God.
Surely such are the dwellings of the unrighteous, such is the place of him who does not know God.
