קְרָ֣א נָ֭א הֲיֵ֣שׁ עוֹנֶ֑ךָּ וְאֶל מִ֥י מִ֝קְּדֹשִׁ֗ים תִּפְנֶֽה׃

KJVCall now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn?

Call now; is there anyone who will answer you? To which of the holy ones will you turn?

כִּֽי לֶאֱוִ֣יל יַהֲרָג כָּ֑עַשׂ וּפֹתֶ֥ה תָ֝מִ֗ית קִנְאָֽה׃

KJVFor wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.

Surely vexation kills the fool, and jealousy slays the simple.

אֲנִ֣י רָ֭אִיתִי אֱוִ֣יל מַשְׁרִ֑ישׁ וָאֶקֹּ֥ב נָ֝וֵ֗הוּ פִּתְאֹֽם׃

KJVI have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.

I have seen the fool taking root, but suddenly I cursed his dwelling.

יִרְחֲק֣וּ בָ֭נָיו מִיֶּ֑שַׁע וְיִדַּכְּא֥וּ בַ֝שַּׁ֗עַר וְאֵ֣ין מַצִּֽיל׃

KJVHis children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.

His children are far from safety; they are crushed in the gate, and there is no one to deliver them.

אֲשֶׁ֤ר קְצִיר֗וֹ רָ֭עֵב יֹאכֵ֑ל וְאֶ֥ל מִ֝צִּנִּ֗ים יִקָּחֵ֥הוּ וְשָׁאַ֣ף צַמִּ֣ים חֵילָֽם׃

KJVWhose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance.

The hungry eat his harvest, and he takes it even out of thorns, and the thirsty pant after his wealth.

כִּ֤י לֹֽא יֵצֵ֣א מֵעָפָ֣ר אָ֑וֶן וּ֝מֵאֲדָמָ֗ה לֹ֣א יִצְמַח עָמָֽל׃

KJVAlthough affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;

For affliction does not come from the dust, nor does trouble sprout from the ground,

כִּי אָדָ֥ם לְעָמָ֣ל יוּלָ֑ד וּבְנֵי רֶ֝֗שֶׁף יַגְבִּ֥יהוּ עֽוּף׃

KJVYet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

but man is born to trouble as the sparks fly upward.

אוּלָ֗ם אֲנִ֥י אֶדְרֹ֣שׁ אֶל אֵ֑ל וְאֶל אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים אָשִׂ֥ים דִּבְרָתִֽי׃

KJVI would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:

As for me, I would seek God, and to God would I commit my cause,

עֹשֶׂ֣ה גְ֭דֹלוֹת וְאֵ֣ין חֵ֑קֶר נִ֝פְלָא֗וֹת עַד אֵ֣ין מִסְפָּֽר׃

KJVWhich doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:

who does great things and unsearchable, marvelous things without number:

הַנֹּתֵ֣ן מָטָ֣ר עַל פְּנֵי אָ֑רֶץ וְשֹׁלֵ֥חַ מַ֝יִם עַל פְּנֵ֥י חֽוּצֽוֹת׃

KJVWho giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields:

he gives rain on the earth and sends waters on the fields;

לָשׂ֣וּם שְׁ֭פָלִים לְמָר֑וֹם וְקֹדְרִ֥ים שָׂ֝גְב֗וּ יֶֽשַׁע׃

KJVTo set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.

he sets on high those who are lowly, and those who mourn are lifted to safety.

מֵפֵ֥ר מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת עֲרוּמִ֑ים וְלֹֽא תַעֲשֶׂ֥ינָה יְ֝דֵיהֶ֗ם תּוּשִׁיָּֽה׃

KJVHe disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.

He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands achieve no success.

לֹכֵ֣ד חֲכָמִ֣ים בְּעָרְמָ֑ם וַעֲצַ֥ת נִ֝פְתָּלִ֗ים נִמְהָֽרָה׃

KJVHe taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.

He catches the wise in their own craftiness, and the schemes of the wily are brought to a quick end.

יוֹמָ֗ם יְ֭פַגְּשׁוּ חֹ֑שֶׁךְ וְ֝כַלַּ֗יְלָה יְמַשְׁשׁ֥וּ בַֽצָּהֳרָֽיִם׃

KJVThey meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope in the noonday as in the night.

They meet with darkness in the daytime and grope at noonday as in the night.

וַיֹּ֣שַׁע מֵחֶ֣רֶב מִפִּיהֶ֑ם וּמִיַּ֥ד חָ֝זָ֗ק אֶבְיֽוֹן׃

KJVBut he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.

But he saves the needy from the sword of their mouth and from the hand of the mighty.

וַתְּהִ֣י לַדַּ֣ל תִּקְוָ֑ה וְ֝עֹלָ֗תָה קָפְצָ֥ה פִּֽיהָ׃

KJVSo the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.

So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts its mouth.

הִנֵּ֤ה אַשְׁרֵ֣י אֱ֭נוֹשׁ יוֹכִחֶ֣נּוּ אֱל֑וֹהַּ וּמוּסַ֥ר שַׁ֝דַּ֗י אַל תִּמְאָֽס׃

KJVBehold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

Behold, blessed is the one whom God reproves; therefore despise not the discipline of the Almighty.

18

כִּ֥י ה֭וּא יַכְאִ֣יב וְיֶחְבָּ֑שׁ יִ֝מְחַ֗ץ וְיָדָ֥יו תִּרְפֶּֽינָה׃

KJVFor he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.

For he wounds, but he binds up; he shatters, but his hands heal.

19

בְּשֵׁ֥שׁ צָ֭רוֹת יַצִּילֶ֑ךָּ וּבְשֶׁ֓בַע ׀ לֹֽא יִגַּ֖ע בְּךָ רָֽע׃

KJVHe shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

He will deliver you from six troubles; in seven no evil shall touch you.

20

בְּ֭רָעָב פָּדְךָ֣ מִמָּ֑וֶת וּ֝בְמִלְחָמָ֗ה מִידֵ֥י חָֽרֶב׃

KJVIn famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.

In famine he will redeem you from death, and in war from the power of the sword.

21

בְּשׁ֣וֹט לָ֭שׁוֹן תֵּחָבֵ֑א וְלֹא תִירָ֥א מִ֝שֹּׁד כִּ֣י יָבֽוֹא׃

KJVThou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.

You shall be hidden from the lash of the tongue, and shall not fear destruction when it comes.

22

לְשֹׁ֣ד וּ֭לְכָפָן תִּשְׂחָ֑ק וּמֵחַיַּ֥ת הָ֝אָ֗רֶץ אַל תִּירָֽא׃

KJVAt destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.

At destruction and famine you shall laugh, and shall not fear the beasts of the earth.

23

כִּ֤י עִם אַבְנֵ֣י הַ֭שָּׂדֶה בְּרִיתֶ֑ךָ וְחַיַּ֥ת הַ֝שָּׂדֶ֗ה הֻשְׁלְמָה לָֽךְ׃

KJVFor thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.

For you shall be in league with the stones of the field, and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with you.

24

וְיָדַעְתָּ֣ כִּי שָׁל֣וֹם אָהֳלֶ֑ךָ וּפָקַדְתָּ֥ נָ֝וְךָ֗ וְלֹ֣א תֶחֱטָֽא׃

KJVAnd thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.

You shall know that your tent is at peace, and you shall inspect your fold and miss nothing.

25

וְיָדַעְתָּ֣ כִּי רַ֣ב זַרְעֶ֑ךָ וְ֝צֶאֱצָאֶ֗יךָ כְּעֵ֣שֶׂב הָאָֽרֶץ׃

KJVThou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.

You shall know also that your offspring shall be many, and your descendants as the grass of the earth.

26

תָּב֣וֹא בְ֭כֶלַח אֱלֵי קָ֑בֶר כַּעֲל֖וֹת גָּדִ֣ישׁ בְּעִתּֽוֹ׃

KJVThou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.

You shall come to your grave in ripe old age, like a sheaf gathered up in its season.

27

הִנֵּה זֹ֣את חֲקַרְנֻ֣הָ כֶן הִ֑יא שְׁמָ֗עֶנָּה וְאַתָּ֥ה דַע לָֽךְ׃

KJVLo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.

Behold, this we have searched out; it is true. Hear, and know it for your good.
