אִ֣ישׁ תּ֭וֹכָחוֹת מַקְשֶׁה עֹ֑רֶף פֶּ֥תַע יִ֝שָּׁבֵ֗ר וְאֵ֣ין מַרְפֵּֽא׃
KJVHe, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
He who is often reproved, yet stiffens his neck, will suddenly be broken beyond healing.

בִּרְב֣וֹת צַ֭דִּיקִים יִשְׂמַ֣ח הָעָ֑ם וּבִמְשֹׁ֥ל רָ֝שָׁ֗ע יֵאָנַ֥ח עָֽם׃
KJVWhen the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan.

אִ֣ישׁ אֹהֵ֣ב חָכְמָ֑ה יְשַׂמַּ֥ח אָ֝בִ֗יו וְרֹעֶ֥ה זוֹנ֗וֹת יְאַבֶּד הֽוֹן׃
KJVWhoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.
He who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.

מֶ֣לֶךְ בְּ֭מִשְׁפָּט יַעֲמִ֣יד אָ֑רֶץ וְאִ֖ישׁ תְּרוּמ֣וֹת יֶהֶרְסֶֽנָּה׃
KJVThe king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.
By justice a king builds up the land, but he who exacts gifts tears it down.

גֶּ֭בֶר מַחֲלִ֣יק עַל רֵעֵ֑הוּ רֶ֝֗שֶׁת פּוֹרֵ֥שׂ עַל פְּעָמָֽיו׃
KJVA man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.
A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet.

בְּפֶ֣שַׁע אִ֭ישׁ רָ֣ע מוֹקֵ֑שׁ וְצַדִּ֥יק יָ֝ר֗וּן וְשָׂמֵֽחַ׃
KJVIn the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
An evil man is ensnared in his transgression, but a righteous man sings and rejoices.

יֹדֵ֣עַ צַ֭דִּיק דִּ֣ין דַּלִּ֑ים רָשָׁ֓ע ׀ לֹ֖א יָבִ֣ין דָּֽעַת׃
KJVThe righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.
A righteous man knows the rights of the poor; a wicked man does not understand such knowledge.

אַנְשֵׁ֣י לָ֭צוֹן יָפִ֣יחוּ קִרְיָ֑ה וַחֲכָמִ֥ים יָ֝שִׁ֗יבוּ אָֽף׃
KJVScornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.
Scoffers set a city aflame, but the wise turn away wrath.

אִ֣ישׁ חָ֭כָם נִשְׁפָּ֣ט אֶת אִ֣ישׁ אֱוִ֑יל וְרָגַ֥ז וְ֝שָׂחַ֗ק וְאֵ֣ין נָֽחַת׃
KJVIf a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.
If a wise man has an argument with a fool, the fool only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet.

אַנְשֵׁ֣י דָ֭מִים יִשְׂנְאוּ תָ֑ם וִ֝ישָׁרִ֗ים יְבַקְשׁ֥וּ נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃
KJVThe bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul.
Bloodthirsty men hate one who is blameless and seek the life of the upright.

כָּל ר֭וּחוֹ יוֹצִ֣יא כְסִ֑יל וְ֝חָכָ֗ם בְּאָח֥וֹר יְשַׁבְּחֶֽנָּה׃
KJVA fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.
A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back.

מֹשֵׁ֗ל מַקְשִׁ֥יב עַל דְּבַר שֶׁ֑קֶר כָּל מְ֝שָׁרְתָ֗יו רְשָׁעִֽים׃
KJVIf a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.
If a ruler listens to falsehood, all his officials will be wicked.

רָ֣שׁ וְ֭אִישׁ תְּכָכִ֣ים נִפְגָּ֑שׁוּ מְאִ֥יר עֵ֝ינֵי שְׁנֵיהֶ֗ם יְהוָֽה׃
KJVThe poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.
The poor man and the oppressor meet together; the LORD gives light to the eyes of both.

מֶ֭לֶךְ שׁוֹפֵ֣ט בֶּאֱמֶ֣ת דַּלִּ֑ים כִּ֝סְאוֹ לָעַ֗ד יִכּוֹן׃
KJVThe king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
If a king faithfully judges the poor, his throne will be established forever.

שֵׁ֣בֶט וְ֭תוֹכַחַת יִתֵּ֣ן חָכְמָ֑ה וְנַ֥עַר מְ֝שֻׁלָּ֗ח מֵבִ֥ישׁ אִמּֽוֹ׃
KJVThe rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.
The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.

בִּרְב֣וֹת רְ֭שָׁעִים יִרְבֶּ֣ה פָּ֑שַׁע וְ֝צַדִּיקִ֗ים בְּמַפַּלְתָּ֥ם יִרְאֽוּ׃
KJVWhen the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.
When the wicked increase, transgression increases, but the righteous will look upon their downfall.

יַסֵּ֣ר בִּ֭נְךָ וִֽינִיחֶ֑ךָ וְ֝יִתֵּ֗ן מַעֲדַנִּ֥ים לְנַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃
KJVCorrect thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.
Discipline your son, and he will give you rest; he will give delight to your heart.
18
בְּאֵ֣ין חָ֭זוֹן יִפָּ֣רַע עָ֑ם וְשֹׁמֵ֥ר ת֝וֹרָ֗ה אַשְׁרֵֽהוּ׃
KJVWhere there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.
19
בִּדְבָרִ֗ים לֹ֭א יִוָּסֶ֣ר עָ֑בֶד כִּ֖י יָבִ֣ין וְאֵ֣ין מַעֲנֶֽה׃
KJVA servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer.
By mere words a servant is not disciplined, for though he understands, he will not respond.

חָ֭זִיתָ אִ֣ישׁ אָ֣ץ בִּדְבָרָ֑יו תִּקְוָ֥ה לִ֝כְסִ֗יל מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃
KJVSeest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

מְפַנֵּ֣ק מִ֭נֹּעַר עַבְדּ֑וֹ וְ֝אַחֲרִית֗וֹ יִהְיֶ֥ה מָנֽוֹן׃
KJVHe that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become his son at the length.
Whoever pampers his servant from childhood will in the end find him his heir.
22
אִ֣ישׁ אַ֭ף יְגָרֶ֣ה מָד֑וֹן וּבַ֥עַל חֵ֝מָ֗ה רַב פָּֽשַׁע׃
KJVAn angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.
A man of wrath stirs up strife, and one given to anger causes much transgression.
23
גַּאֲוַ֣ת אָ֭דָם תַּשְׁפִּילֶ֑נּוּ וּשְׁפַל ר֝֗וּחַ יִתְמֹ֥ךְ כָּבֽוֹד׃
KJVA man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.
One's pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.
24
חוֹלֵ֣ק עִם גַּנָּ֣ב שׂוֹנֵ֣א נַפְשׁ֑וֹ אָלָ֥ה יִשְׁמַ֗ע וְלֹ֥א יַגִּֽיד׃
KJVWhoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not.
The partner of a thief hates his own life; he hears the curse but discloses nothing.

חֶרְדַּ֣ת אָ֭דָם יִתֵּ֣ן מוֹקֵ֑שׁ וּבוֹטֵ֥חַ בַּ֝יהוָ֗ה יְשֻׂגָּֽב׃
KJVThe fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is safe.
26
רַבִּ֗ים מְֽבַקְשִׁ֥ים פְּנֵי מוֹשֵׁ֑ל וּ֝מֵיְהוָ֗ה מִשְׁפַּ֥ט אִֽישׁ׃
KJVMany seek the ruler's favour; but every man's judgment cometh from the LORD.
Many seek the face of a ruler, but it is from the LORD that a man gets justice.
27
תּוֹעֲבַ֣ת צַ֭דִּיקִים אִ֣ישׁ עָוֶ֑ל וְתוֹעֲבַ֥ת רָ֝שָׁ֗ע יְשַׁר דָּֽרֶךְ׃
KJVAn unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.
An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, but one whose way is straight is an abomination to the wicked.
