KJVBlessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

6
KJVWherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.
7
KJVThat the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith — of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire — may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
8

KJVOf which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care,
11
KJVSearching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

12
KJVUnto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.
13
KJVWherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.
14
KJVAs obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.
15

But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;
16
KJVBecause it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
for it is written: Be holy, because I am holy.
17
KJVAnd if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
Since you call on a Father who judges each person's work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear.
18
KJVForasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors,
19
KJVBut with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

KJVWho by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

22
KJVSeeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.

For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.
24
KJVFor all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
For, All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall,
25
KJVBut the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
but the word of the Lord endures forever. And this is the word that was preached to you.
