Τὰ τέκνα, ὑπακούετε τοῖς γονεῦσιν ὑμῶν ἐν Κυρίῳ· τοῦτο γάρ ἐστιν δίκαιον.

KJVChildren, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

Τίμα τὸν πατέρα σου καὶ τὴν μητέρα ἥτις ἐστὶν ἐντολὴ πρώτη ἐν ἐπαγγελίᾳ,

KJVHonour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;

Honor your father and mother — which is the first commandment with a promise —

ἵνα εὖ σοι γένηται, καὶ ἔσῃ μακροχρόνιος ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς.

KJVThat it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.

Καὶ οἱ πατέρες, μὴ παροργίζετε τὰ τέκνα ὑμῶν, ἀλλ' ἐκτρέφετε αὐτὰ ἐν παιδείᾳ καὶ νουθεσίᾳ Κυρίου.

KJVAnd, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Οἱ δοῦλοι, ὑπακούετε τοῖς κυρίοις κατὰ σάρκα, μετὰ φόβου καὶ τρόμου, ἐν ἁπλότητι τῆς καρδίας ὑμῶν, ὡς τῷ Χριστῷ·

KJVServants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.

μὴ κατ' ὀφθαλμοδουλείαν ὡς ἀνθρωπάρεσκοι, ἀλλ' ὡς δοῦλοι τοῦ Χριστοῦ, ποιοῦντες τὸ θέλημα τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐκ ψυχῆς,

KJVNot with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.

μετ' εὐνοίας δουλεύοντες ὡς τῷ Κυρίῳ καὶ οὐκ ἀνθρώποις·

KJVWith good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:

Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people,

εἰδότες ὅτι ὃ ἐάν τι ἕκαστος ποιήσῃ ἀγαθόν, τοῦτο κομιεῖται παρὰ τοῦ Κυρίου, εἴτε δοῦλος, εἴτε ἐλεύθερος.

KJVKnowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free.

Καὶ οἱ κύριοι, τὰ αὐτὰ ποιεῖτε πρὸς αὐτούς, ἀνιέντες τὴν ἀπειλήν· εἰδότες ὅτι καὶ ὑμῶν αὐτῶν ὁ Κύριός ἐστιν ἐν οὐρανοῖς, καὶ προσωποληψία οὐκ ἔστιν παρ' αὐτῷ.

KJVAnd, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.

τοῦ λοιποῦ, ἀδελφοί μου, ἐνδυναμοῦσθε ἐν Κυρίῳ καὶ ἐν τῷ κράτει τῆς ἰσχύος αὐτοῦ.

KJVFinally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

ἐνδύσασθε τὴν πανοπλίαν τοῦ Θεοῦ, πρὸς τὸ δύνασθαι ὑμᾶς στῆναι πρὸς τὰς μεθοδείας τοῦ διαβόλου.

KJVPut on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν ἡμῖν ἡ πάλη πρὸς αἷμα καὶ σάρκα, ἀλλὰ πρὸς τὰς ἀρχάς, πρὸς τὰς ἐξουσίας, πρὸς τοὺς κοσμοκράτορας τοῦ σκότους τοῦ αἰῶνος τούτου, πρὸς τὰ πνευματικὰ τῆς πονηρίας ἐν τοῖς ἐπουρανίοις.

KJVFor we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Διὰ τοῦτο ἀναλάβετε τὴν πανοπλίαν τοῦ Θεοῦ, ἵνα δυνηθῆτε ἀντιστῆναι ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ πονηρᾷ, καὶ ἅπαντα κατεργασάμενοι στῆναι.

KJVWherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Στῆτε οὖν περιζωσάμενοι τὴν ὀσφὺν ὑμῶν ἐν ἀληθείᾳ, καὶ ἐνδυσάμενοι τὸν θώρακα τῆς δικαιοσύνης,

KJVStand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,

καὶ ὑποδησάμενοι τοὺς πόδας ἐν ἑτοιμασίᾳ τοῦ εὐαγγελίου τῆς εἰρήνης·

KJVAnd your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

ἐπὶ πᾶσιν ἀναλαβόντες τὸν θυρεὸν τῆς πίστεως, ἐν ᾧ δυνήσεσθε πάντα τὰ βέλη τοῦ πονηροῦ τὰ πεπυρωμένα σβέσαι.

KJVAbove all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

Καὶ τὴν περικεφαλαίαν τοῦ σωτηρίου δέξασθαι, καὶ τὴν μάχαιραν τοῦ Πνεύματος, ὅ ἐστιν ῥῆμα Θεοῦ·

KJVAnd take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

διὰ πάσης προσευχῆς καὶ δεήσεως προσευχόμενοι ἐν παντὶ καιρῷ ἐν Πνεύματι, καὶ εἰς αὐτὸ τοῦτο ἀγρυπνοῦντες ἐν πάσῃ προσκαρτερήσει καὶ δεήσει περὶ πάντων τῶν ἁγίων,

KJVPraying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people.

καὶ ὑπὲρ ἐμοῦ, ἵνα μοι δοθῇ λόγος ἐν ἀνοίξει τοῦ στόματός μου ἐν παρρησίᾳ γνωρίσαι τὸ μυστήριον τοῦ εὐαγγελίου,

KJVAnd for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel,

ὑπὲρ οὗ πρεσβεύω ἐν ἁλύσει, ἵνα ἐν αὐτῷ παρρησιάσωμαι, ὡς δεῖ με λαλῆσαι.

KJVFor which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

Ἵνα δὲ εἰδῆτε καὶ ὑμεῖς τὰ κατ' ἐμέ, τί πράσσω, πάντα ὑμῖν γνωρίσει Τυχικὸς ὁ ἀγαπητὸς ἀδελφὸς καὶ πιστὸς διάκονος ἐν Κυρίῳ·

KJVBut that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:

Tychicus, the dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you also may know how I am and what I am doing.

ὃν ἔπεμψα πρὸς ὑμᾶς εἰς αὐτὸ τοῦτο, ἵνα γνῶτε τὰ περὶ ἡμῶν, καὶ παρακαλέσῃ τὰς καρδίας ὑμῶν.

KJVWhom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts.

I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are, and that he may encourage you.

Εἰρήνη τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς καὶ ἀγάπη μετὰ πίστεως ἀπὸ Θεοῦ Πατρὸς καὶ Κυρίου Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ.

KJVPeace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Peace to the brothers and sisters, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Ἡ χάρις μετὰ πάντων τῶν ἀγαπώντων τὸν Κύριον ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦν Χριστὸν ἐν ἀφθαρσίᾳ. ἀμήν.

KJVGrace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.

Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.
