Παῦλος ἀπόστολος οὐκ ἀπ' ἀνθρώπων, οὐδὲ δι' ἀνθρώπου, ἀλλὰ διὰ Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ, καὶ Θεοῦ Πατρὸς τοῦ ἐγείραντος αὐτὸν ἐκ νεκρῶν,

KJVPaul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)

Paul, an apostle — sent not from men nor by a man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead —

καὶ οἱ σὺν ἐμοὶ πάντες ἀδελφοί, ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις τῆς Γαλατίας·

KJVAnd all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:

and all the brothers and sisters with me, To the churches in Galatia:

χάρις ὑμῖν καὶ εἰρήνη ἀπὸ Θεοῦ Πατρός, καὶ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ,

KJVGrace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,

τοῦ δόντος ἑαυτὸν περὶ τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν ἡμῶν, ὅπως ἐξέληται ἡμᾶς ἐκ τοῦ ἐνεστῶτος αἰῶνος πονηροῦ, κατὰ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ Πατρὸς ἡμῶν·

KJVWho gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,

ᾧ ἡ δόξα εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων. ἀμήν.

KJVTo whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Θαυμάζω ὅτι οὕτως ταχέως μετατίθεσθε ἀπὸ τοῦ καλέσαντος ὑμᾶς ἐν χάριτι Χριστοῦ εἰς ἕτερον εὐαγγέλιον·

KJVI marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel —

ὃ οὐκ ἔστιν ἄλλο, εἰ μή τινές εἰσιν οἱ ταράσσοντες ὑμᾶς καὶ θέλοντες μεταστρέψαι τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τοῦ Χριστοῦ.

KJVWhich is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.

ἀλλὰ καὶ ἐὰν ἡμεῖς ἢ ἄγγελος ἐξ οὐρανοῦ εὐαγγελίσηται ὑμῖν παρ' ὃ εὐηγγελισάμεθα ὑμῖν, ἀνάθεμα ἔστω.

KJVBut though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God's curse!

Ὡς προειρήκαμεν, καὶ ἄρτι πάλιν λέγω, εἴ τις ὑμᾶς εὐαγγελίζεται παρ' ὃ παρελάβετε, ἀνάθεμα ἔστω.

KJVAs we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God's curse!

Ἄρτι γὰρ ἀνθρώπους πείθω ἢ τὸν Θεόν; Ἢ ζητῶ ἀνθρώποις ἀρέσκειν; Εἰ γὰρ ἔτι ἀνθρώποις ἤρεσκον, Χριστοῦ δοῦλος οὐκ ἂν ἤμην.

KJVFor do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Γνωρίζω δὲ ὑμῖν, ἀδελφοί, τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τὸ εὐαγγελισθὲν ὑπ' ἐμοῦ, ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν κατὰ ἄνθρωπον.

KJVBut I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.

I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin.

Οὐδὲ γὰρ ἐγὼ παρὰ ἀνθρώπου παρέλαβον αὐτό, οὔτε ἐδιδάχθην, ἀλλὰ δι' ἀποκαλύψεως Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ.

KJVFor I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.

Ἠκούσατε γὰρ τὴν ἐμὴν ἀναστροφήν ποτε ἐν τῷ Ἰουδαϊσμῷ, ὅτι καθ' ὑπερβολὴν ἐδίωκον τὴν ἐκκλησίαν τοῦ Θεοῦ, καὶ ἐπόρθουν αὐτήν·

KJVFor ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:

For you have heard of my previous way of life in Judaism, how intensely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it.

καὶ προέκοπτον ἐν τῷ Ἰουδαϊσμῷ ὑπὲρ πολλοὺς συνηλικιώτας ἐν τῷ γένει μου, περισσοτέρως ζηλωτὴς ὑπάρχων τῶν πατρικῶν μου παραδόσεων.

KJVAnd profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.

I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers.

Ὅτε δὲ εὐδόκησεν ὁ Θεὸς ὁ ἀφορίσας με ἐκ κοιλίας μητρός μου καὶ καλέσας διὰ τῆς χάριτος αὐτοῦ,

KJVBut when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,

But when God, who set me apart from my mother's womb and called me by his grace, was pleased

ἀποκαλύψαι τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ ἐν ἐμοὶ ἵνα εὐαγγελίζωμαι αὐτὸν ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν, εὐθέως οὐ προσανεθέμην σαρκὶ καὶ αἵματι·

KJVTo reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, my immediate response was not to consult any human being.

οὐδὲ ἀνῆλθον εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα πρὸς τοὺς πρὸ ἐμοῦ ἀποστόλους, ἀλλὰ ἀπῆλθον εἰς Ἀραβίαν, καὶ πάλιν ὑπέστρεψα εἰς Δαμασκόν.

KJVNeither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.

I did not go up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before I was, but I went immediately into Arabia. Later I returned to Damascus.

Ἔπειτα μετὰ ἔτη τρία ἀνῆλθον εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα ἱστορῆσαι Πέτρον, καὶ ἐπέμεινα πρὸς αὐτὸν ἡμέρας δεκαπέντε.

KJVThen after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.

Then after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to get acquainted with Cephas and stayed with him fifteen days.

Ἕτερον δὲ τῶν ἀποστόλων οὐκ εἶδον, εἰ μὴ Ἰάκωβον τὸν ἀδελφὸν τοῦ Κυρίου.

KJVBut other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.

I saw none of the other apostles — only James, the Lord's brother.

Ἃ δὲ γράφω ὑμῖν, ἰδοὺ ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ ὅτι οὐ ψεύδομαι.

KJVNow the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not.

I assure you before God that what I am writing you is no lie.

Ἔπειτα ἦλθον εἰς τὰ κλίματα τῆς Συρίας καὶ τῆς Κιλικίας.

KJVAfterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;

Then I went to Syria and Cilicia.

Ἤμην δὲ ἀγνοούμενος τῷ προσώπῳ ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις τῆς Ἰουδαίας ταῖς ἐν Χριστῷ·

KJVAnd was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ:

I was personally unknown to the churches of Judea that are in Christ.

μόνον δὲ ἀκούοντες ἦσαν ὅτι Ὁ διώκων ἡμᾶς ποτέ, νῦν εὐαγγελίζεται τὴν πίστιν ἥν ποτε ἐπόρθει.

KJVBut they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.

They only heard the report: The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.

Καὶ ἐδόξαζον ἐν ἐμοὶ τὸν Θεόν.

KJVAnd they glorified God in me.

And they praised God because of me.
