וּכְכַלּ֤וֹת שְׁלֹמֹה֙ לְהִֽתְפַּלֵּ֔ל וְהָאֵ֛שׁ יָרְדָ֥ה מִן הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם וַתֹּ֣אכַל הָעֹלָ֣ה וְהַזְּבָחִ֑ים וּכְב֤וֹד יְהוָה֙ מָלֵ֣א אֶ֣ת הַבָּ֑יִת׃

KJVNow when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.

As soon as Solomon finished his prayer, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD filled the temple.

וְלֹ֤א יָכְלוּ֙ הַכֹּהֲנִ֔ים לָב֖וֹא אֶ֣ל בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה כִּ֥י מָלֵ֛א כְּב֥וֹד יְהוָ֖ה אֶ֥ת בֵּ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃

KJVAnd the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD's house.

And the priests could not enter the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD filled the LORD's house.

וְכֹ֣ל בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֡ל רֹאִ֣ים בְּרֶ֣דֶת הָ֠אֵ֠שׁ וּ֠כְב֠וֹד יְהוָ֡ה עַ֣ל הַבַּ֣יִת וַיִּכְרְע֣וּ אַפַּ֣יִם אַ֠רְצָ֠ה עַ֣ל הָרִצְפָּ֡ה וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲו֣וּ וְ֠הֹדוֹת לַ֠יהוָ֠ה כִּ֣י ט֣וֹב כִּ֣י לְ֠עוֹלָ֠ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

KJVAnd when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

When all the people of Israel saw the fire come down and the glory of the LORD on the temple, they bowed down with their faces to the ground on the pavement and worshiped and gave thanks to the LORD, saying: For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.

וְהַמֶּ֥לֶךְ וְכָל הָעָ֖ם זֹבְחִ֥ים זֶ֥בַח לִפְנֵ֖י יְהוָֽה׃

KJVAnd king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep: so the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.

King Solomon offered as a sacrifice 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep. So the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.

וְהַכֹּהֲנִ֣ים עַ֣ל מִשְׁמְרוֹתָ֡ם עֹמְדִ֡ים וְהַ֣לְוִיִּם֩ בִּכְלֵ֨י שִׁ֤יר יְהוָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשָׂ֥ה דָוִ֛יד הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ לְ֠הֹדוֹת לַ֠יהוָ֠ה כִּ֣י לְ֠עוֹלָ֠ם חַסְד֡וֹ בְּהַלֵּ֣ל דָוִ֣יד בְּיָדָ֡ם וְהַכֹּהֲנִ֣ים מַחְצְרִ֡ים לְנֶגְדָּ֡ם וְכָ֣ל יִ֠שְׂרָאֵ֠ל עֹמְדִֽים׃

KJVAnd the priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments of musick of the LORD, which David the king had made to praise the LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever, when David praised by their ministry; and the priests sounded trumpets before them, and all Israel stood.

The priests stood at their posts; the Levites also, with the instruments for music to the LORD that King David had made for giving thanks to the LORD — for his steadfast love endures forever — whenever David offered praises by their ministry; opposite them the priests sounded trumpets, and all Israel stood.

וַיְקַדֵּ֣שׁ שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה אֶ֣ת תּ֠וֹךְ הֶֽחָצֵ֡ר אֲשֶׁ֣ר לִפְנֵ֣י בֵ֣ית יְהוָ֡ה כִּ֣י עָ֣שָׂה שָׁ֠ם אֶ֠ת הָעֹל֡וֹת וְאֵ֣ת חֶלְבֵ֣י הַשְּׁלָמִ֡ים כִּ֣י מִזְבַּ֣ח הַ֠נְּחֹ֠שֶׁת אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֣ה שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה לֹ֣א יָכֹ֣ל לְהָכִ֡יל אֶ֠ת הָעֹלָ֡ה וְאֶ֣ת הַמִּנְחָ֣ה וְאֶ֣ת הַחֲלָבִֽים׃

KJVMoreover Solomon hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD: for there he offered burnt offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the brasen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt offerings, and the meat offerings, and the fat.

Solomon consecrated the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD, for there he offered the burnt offering and the fat of the peace offerings, because the bronze altar Solomon had made could not hold the burnt offering and the grain offering and the fat.

וַיַּ֣עַשׂ שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה אֶ֣ת הֶחָ֡ג בָּעֵ֣ת הַ֠הִ֠יא שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֣ים וְכָ֣ל יִ֣שְׂרָאֵ֡ל עִמּ֣וֹ קָהָ֣ל גָּד֡וֹל מְ֠אֹד מִ֠לְּבוֹא חֲמָ֡ת וְעַ֣ד נַ֣חַל מִצְרָֽיִם׃

KJVAlso at the same time Solomon kept the feast seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt.

At that time Solomon held the feast for seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great assembly, from Lebo-hamath to the Brook of Egypt.

וַיַּ֣עֲשׂוּ בַּ֣יּוֹם הַ֠שְּׁמִינִ֠י עֲצֶ֡רֶת כִּ֣י חֲנֻכַּ֣ת הַ֠מִּזְבֵּחַ֠ עָשׂ֡וּ שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֣ים וְהֶחָ֣ג שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִֽים׃

KJVAnd in the eighth day they made a solemn assembly: for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days.

And on the eighth day they held a solemn assembly, for they had kept the dedication of the altar seven days and the feast seven days.

וּבְיוֹם֩ עֶשְׂרִ֨ים וּשְׁלֹשָׁ֜ה לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִ֗י שִׁלַּ֤ח אֶת הָעָם֙ לְאָהֳלֵיהֶ֔ם שְׂמֵחִ֣ים וְטֽוֹבֵי לֵ֔ב עַל הַטּוֹבָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשָׂ֥ה יְהוָ֛ה לְדָוִ֥יד וְלִשְׁלֹמֹ֖ה וּלְיִשְׂרָאֵ֥ל עַמּֽוֹ׃

KJVAnd on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away into their tents, glad and merry in heart for the goodness that the LORD had shewed unto David, and to Solomon, and to Israel his people.

On the twenty-third day of the seventh month Solomon sent the people away to their homes, joyful and glad of heart for the prosperity that the LORD had granted to David and to Solomon and to Israel his people.

וַיְכַ֤ל שְׁלֹמֹה֙ אֶת בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֔ה וְאֶ֥ת בֵּ֖ית הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וְכָ֨ל הַ֤בָּא בְלֵב֙ שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת בְּבֵ֣ית יְהוָ֔ה וּבְבֵית֑וֹ הִצְלִֽיחַ׃

KJVThus Solomon finished the house of the LORD, and the king's house: and all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of the LORD, and in his own house, he prosperously effected.

Thus Solomon finished the house of the LORD and the king's house. All that Solomon had planned to do in the house of the LORD and in his own house he successfully accomplished.

וַיֵּרָ֤א יְהוָה֙ אֶ֣ל שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה בַּלַּ֖יְלָה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֑וֹ שָׁמַ֙עְתִּי֙ אֶ֣ת תְּפִלָּ֔תֶךָ וּבָחַ֛רְתִּי בַּמָּק֥וֹם הַזֶּ֖ה לִ֥י לְבֵ֥ית זָֽבַח׃

KJVAnd the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice.

Then the LORD appeared to Solomon in the night and said to him: I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a house of sacrifice.

הֵ֣ן אֶעְצֹ֣ר הַ֠שָּׁמַ֠יִם וְלֹ֣א יִהְיֶ֣ה מָטָ֡ר וְ֠הֵן אֲ֠צַוֶּה עַ֣ל חָגָ֡ב לֶ֠אֱכֹ֠ל הָאָ֡רֶץ וְ֠אִם אֲ֠שַׁלַּח דֶּ֡בֶר בְּ֠עַמִּֽי׃

KJVIf I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;

When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people,

וְיִכָּנְעוּ֙ עַמִּ֣י אֲשֶׁ֣ר נִקְרָ֣א שְׁמִ֣י עֲלֵיהֶ֗ם וְיִֽתְפַּלְל֤וּ וִיבַקְשׁ֣וּ פָנַ֔י וְיָ֙שׁוּב֙וּ מִדַּרְכֵיהֶ֣ם הָ֔רָעִ֑ים וַאֲנִי֙ אֶשְׁמַ֣ע מִן הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וְאֶסְלַ֥ח לְחַטָּאתָ֖ם וְאֶרְפָּ֥א אֶ֖ת אַרְצָֽם׃

KJVIf my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

עַתָּ֗ה עֵינַ֤י יִהְיוּ֙ פְּתֻח֔וֹת וְ֠אָזְנַ֠י קַשֻּׁב֣וֹת לִתְפִלַּ֣ת הַ֠מָּקוֹם הַ֠זֶּה׃

KJVNow mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.

Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place.

וְעַתָּ֗ה בָּחַ֧רְתִּי וְהִקְדַּ֛שְׁתִּי אֶ֣ת הַ֠בַּ֠יִת הַ֠זֶּה לִהְי֣וֹת שְׁמִ֣י שָׁ֣ם עַ֣ד עוֹלָ֡ם וְ֠הָיוּ עֵינַ֡י וְלִבִּ֣י שָׁ֣ם כָּ֣ל הַ֠יָּמִֽים׃

KJVFor now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

For now I have chosen and consecrated this house that my name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will be there for all time.

וְאַתָּ֗ה אִ֣ם תֵּ֣לֵךְ לְ֠פָנַ֠י כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֤ר הָלַ֣ךְ דָּוִ֣יד אָבִ֡יךָ וְלַ֣עֲשׂוֹת כְּ֠כֹ֠ל אֲשֶׁ֡ר צִוִּיתִ֡יךָ וְ֠חֻקַּ֠י וּמִשְׁפָּטַ֡י תִּשְׁמֹֽר׃

KJVAnd as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and shalt observe my statutes and my judgments;

And as for you, if you walk before me as David your father walked, doing according to all that I have commanded you and keeping my statutes and my rules,

וַהֲקִימוֹתִ֗י אֵ֤ת כִּסֵּ֣א מַלְכוּתֶ֣ךָ כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר כָּרַ֣תִּי לְ֠דָוִ֠יד אָ֠בִ֠יךָ לֵאמֹ֡ר לֹ֣א יִכָּרֵ֣ת לְ֠ךָ֠ אִ֣ישׁ מוֹשֵׁ֣ל בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJVThen will I stablish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I have covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel.

then I will establish your royal throne, as I covenanted with David your father, saying: You shall not lack a man to rule Israel.

וְאִ֣ם תְּשׁוּבוּ֩ אַ֨תֶּם וַעֲזַבְתֶּ֤ם חֻקּוֹתַ֙י֙ וּמִצְוֹתַ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָתַ֖תִּי לִפְנֵיכֶ֑ם וַהֲלַכְתֶּ֗ם וַעֲבַדְתֶּ֛ם אֱלֹהִ֥ים אֲחֵרִ֖ים וְהִשְׁתַּחֲוִ֥יתֶם לָהֶֽם׃

KJVBut if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them;

But if you turn aside and forsake my statutes and my commandments that I have set before you, and go and serve other gods and worship them,

וּנְתַשְׁתִּ֣ים מֵ֣עַל אַדְמָ֡תִי אֲשֶׁ֣ר נָ֠תַ֠תִּי לָ֠הֶם וְ֠אֶת הַבַּ֡יִת הַ֠זֶּה אֲשֶׁ֣ר הִקְדַּ֣שְׁתִּי לִ֠שְׁמִי֠ אַשְׁלִ֣יךְ מֵ֣עַל פָּנַ֡י וְ֠אֶתְּנֶ֠נּוּ לְ֠מָשָׁ֠ל וְ֠לִשְׁנִינָ֡ה בְּ֠כָ֠ל הָ֠עַמִּֽים׃

KJVThen will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations.

then I will pluck you up from my land that I have given you, and this house that I have consecrated for my name, I will cast out of my sight, and I will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

וְהַבַּ֣יִת הַ֣זֶּה אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָ֣יָה עֶלְי֡וֹן לְ֠כָ֠ל עֹבֵ֡ר עָ֠לָ֠יו יִֽשֹּׁ֡ם וְ֠אָמַ֠ר בַּ֠מֶּ֠ה עָ֡שָׂה יְ֠הוָ֠ה כָּ֠כָ֠ה לָ֡אָרֶץ הַ֠זֹּ֠את וְ֠לַ֠בַּ֡יִת הַ֠זֶּֽה׃

KJVAnd this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and unto this house?

And at this house, which was exalted, everyone passing by will be astonished and say: Why has the LORD done thus to this land and to this house?

וְאָמְרוּ֙ עַ֣ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָזְב֣וּ אֶ֠ת יְהוָ֡ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י אֲבוֹתֵיהֶ֡ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר הוֹצִיאָ֡ם מֵ֠אֶרֶץ מִ֠צְרַ֠יִם וַ֠יַּחֲזִיקוּ֡ בֵּ֠אלֹהִ֡ים אֲחֵרִ֡ים וַ֠יִּשְׁתַּחֲו֡וּ לָהֶ֡ם וַ֠יַּעַבְד֡וּם עַ֣ל כֵּ֣ן הֵ֣בִיא עֲלֵיהֶ֡ם אֶ֠ת כָּ֠ל הָ֠רָעָ֠ה הַ֠זֹּֽאת׃

KJVAnd it shall be answered, Because they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath he brought all this evil upon them.

Then they will say: Because they abandoned the LORD, the God of their fathers who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them. Therefore he has brought all this disaster on them.
