Job Chapter 33 | KJV & Biblical Hebrew

וְאוּלָ֗ם שְׁמַע נָ֤א אִיּ֨וֹב ׀ מִלָּ֗י וְכָל דְּבָרַ֥י הַאֲזִֽינָה׃

KJVWherefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words.

But now, hear my speech, O Job, and listen to all my words.

הִנֵּה נָ֣א פָתַ֣חְתִּי פִ֑י דִּבְּרָ֖ה לְשׁוֹנִ֣י בְחִכִּֽי׃

KJVBehold, now I have opened my mouth, my tongue hath spoken in my mouth.

Behold, I open my mouth; the tongue in my mouth speaks.

מֵישָׁרִ֣ים אֲמָרָ֑י וְדַ֖עַת שְׂפָתַ֣י בָּ֣רוּר יַמְלִֽילוּ׃

KJVMy words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly.

My words declare the uprightness of my heart, and what my lips know they speak sincerely.

ר֣וּחַ אֵ֭ל עָשָׂ֑תְנִי וְנִשְׁמַ֥ת שַׁ֝דַּ֗י תְּחַיֵּֽנִי׃

KJVThe spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

אִם תּוּכַ֗ל הֲשִׁ֫יבֵ֥נִי עֶרְכָ֣ה לְ֭פָנַי הִתְיַצָּֽבָה׃

KJVIf thou canst answer me, set thy words in order before me, stand up.

Answer me, if you can; set your words in order before me; take your stand.

הֵ֤ן אֲנִ֣י כְ֭פִיךָ לָאֵ֑ל מֵ֝חֹ֗מֶר קֹ֣רַצְתִּי גַם אָֽנִי׃

KJVBehold, I am according to thy wish in God's stead: I also am formed out of the clay.

Behold, I am toward God as you are; I too was pinched off from a piece of clay.

הִנֵּ֥ה אֵ֫מָתִ֥י לֹ֥א תְבַעֲתֶ֑ךָּ וְ֝אַכְפִּ֗י עָלֶ֥יךָ לֹ֣א יִכְבַּֽד׃

KJVBehold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon thee.

Behold, no fear of me need terrify you; my pressure will not be heavy upon you.

אַ֤ךְ אָמַ֣רְתָּ בְאָזְנַ֣י וְק֣וֹל מִלִּ֑ין אֶשְׁמָֽע׃

KJVSurely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying,

Surely you have spoken in my ears, and I have heard the sound of your words.

זַ֤ךְ אֲנִ֨י ׀ בְּלִ֥י פֶ֗שַׁע חַ֣ף אָ֭נֹכִי וְלֹ֣א עָוֺ֣ן לִֽי׃

KJVI am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.

You say: I am pure, without transgression; I am clean, and there is no iniquity in me.

הֵ֥ן תְּנוּאוֹת֮ עָלַ֪י יִ֫מְצָ֥א יַחְשְׁבֵ֥נִי לְאוֹיֵ֗ב לֽוֹ׃

KJVBehold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy,

Behold, he finds occasions against me, he counts me as his enemy,

יָשֵׂ֣ם בַּ֭סַּד רַגְלַ֑י יִשְׁמֹ֥ר כָּל אָרְחֹתָ֗י׃

KJVHe putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.

he puts my feet in the stocks and watches all my paths.

12

הֶן זֹ֣את לֹא אֲמַרְתֶּ֑ק אֶ֝עֶנְךָ כִּ֣י יִרְבֶּ֣ה אֱ֗ל֗וֹהַּ מֵאֱנֽוֹשׁ׃

KJVBehold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.

Behold, in this you are not right. I will answer you, for God is greater than man.

מַדּ֣וּעַ אֵ֭לָיו רִ֑יבוֹתָ כִּ֥י כָל דְּ֝בָרָ֗יו לֹ֣א יַעֲנֶֽה׃

KJVWhy dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.

Why do you contend against him, saying: He will answer none of my words?

כִּי בְּאַחַ֥ת יְדַבֶּר אֵ֑ל וּ֝בִשְׁתַּ֗יִם לֹ֣א יְשׁוּרֶֽנָּה׃

KJVFor God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.

For God speaks in one way, and in two, though man does not perceive it.

15

בַּחֲל֤וֹם ׀ חֶזְי֬וֹן לַ֗יְלָה בִּנְפֹ֣ל תַּ֭רְדֵּמָה עַל אֲנָשִׁ֑ים בִּ֝תְנוּמ֗וֹת עֲלֵ֣י מִשְׁכָּֽב׃

KJVIn a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;

In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, while they slumber on their beds,

16

אָ֘ז יִגְלֶ֤ה אֹ֨זֶן ׀ אֲנָ֗שִׁים וּ֭בְמֹסָרָם יַחְתֹּ֑ם׃

KJVThen he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,

then he opens the ears of men and terrifies them with warnings,

17

לְהָסִ֣יר אָ֭דָם מַּעֲשֶׂ֑ה וְגֵ֖וָה מִגֶּ֣בֶר יְכַסֶּֽה׃

KJVThat he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.

that he may turn man aside from his deed and conceal pride from a man;

18

יַחְשֹׂ֣ךְ נַ֭פְשׁוֹ מִנִּי שָׁ֑חַת וְ֝חַיָּת֗וֹ מֵעֲבֹ֥ר בַּשָּֽׁלַח׃

KJVHe keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.

he keeps back his soul from the pit, his life from perishing by the sword.

19

וְהוּכַ֬ח בְּמַכְאוֹב֮ עַל מִשְׁכָּב֒וֹ וְרִ֥יב עֲצָמָ֖יו אֵתָֽן׃

KJVHe is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:

Man is also rebuked with pain on his bed and with continual strife in his bones,

20

וְזִהֲמַ֣תּוּ חַיָּת֑וֹ לֶ֝֗חֶם וְנַפְשׁ֥וֹ מַאֲכַ֗ל תַּאֲוָֽה׃

KJVSo that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat.

so that his life loathes bread, and his appetite the choicest food.

21

יִ֭כֶל בְּשָׂר֣וֹ מֵרֹ֑אִי וְ֝שֻׁפּ֗וּ עַצְמוֹתָ֥יו לֹ֣א רֻאּֽוּ׃

KJVHis flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.

His flesh is so wasted away that it cannot be seen, and his bones that were not seen stick out.

22

וַ֭תִּקְרַב לַשַּׁ֣חַת נַפְשׁ֑וֹ וְחַיָּת֥וֹ לַמְמִתִֽים׃

KJVYea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.

His soul draws near the pit, and his life to those who bring death.

23

אִם יֵ֤שׁ עָלָ֨יו ׀ מַלְאָ֗ךְ מֵלִ֗יץ אֶחָ֣ד מִ֭נִּי אָ֑לֶף לְהַגִּ֖יד לְאָדָ֣ם יָשְׁרֽוֹ׃

KJVIf there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:

If there be for him an angel, a mediator, one of the thousand, to declare to man what is right for him,

24

וַיְחֻנֶּ֗נּוּ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר פְּ֭דָעֵהוּ מֵרֶ֣דֶת שָׁ֑חַת מָ֝צָ֗אתִי כֹ֣פֶר׃

KJVThen he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.

and he is merciful to him, and says: Deliver him from going down into the pit; I have found a ransom;

25

רֻטֲפַ֣שׁ בְּשָׂר֣וֹ מִנֹּ֑עַר יָשׁ֖וּב לִימֵ֣י עֲלוּמָֽיו׃

KJVHis flesh shall be fresher than a child's: he shall return to the days of his youth:

let his flesh become fresh with youth; let him return to the days of his youthful vigor;

26

יֶעְתַּ֤ר אֶל אֱל֗וֹהַּ וַיִּרְצֵ֑הוּ וַיַּ֥רְא פָּנָ֗יו בִּתְרוּעָ֥ה וַיָּ֗שֶׁב לֶאֱנ֣וֹשׁ צִדְקָתֽוֹ׃

KJVHe shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.

then man prays to God, and he accepts him; he sees his face with a shout of joy, and he restores to man his righteousness.

27

יָשֹׁ֣ר עַל אֲנָשִׁ֣ים וַיֹּ֑אמֶר חָ֤טָ֥אתִי וְיָשָׁ֥ר הֶעֱוֵ֗יתִי וְלֹ֣א שָׁוָ֣ה לִֽי׃

KJVHe looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;

He sings before men and says: I sinned and perverted what was right, and it was not repaid to me.

28

פָּ֭דָה נַפְשׁ֣וֹ מֵעֲבֹ֣ר בַּשָּׁ֑חַת וְ֝חַיָּת֗וֹ בָּא֥וֹר תִּרְאֶֽה׃

KJVHe will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.

He has redeemed my soul from going down into the pit, and my life shall look upon the light.

29

הֶן כָּל אֵ֭לֶּה יִפְעַל אֵ֑ל פַּעֲמַ֥יִם שָׁ֝ל֗וֹשׁ עִם גָּֽבֶר׃

KJVLo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man,

Behold, God does all these things, twice, three times, with a man,

30

לְ֭הָשִׁיב נַפְשׁ֣וֹ מִנִּי שָׁ֑חַת לֵ֝א֗וֹר בְּא֣וֹר הַחַיִּֽים׃

KJVTo bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.

to bring back his soul from the pit, that he may be lighted with the light of life.

31

הַקְשֵׁב אִיּ֣וֹב שְׁמַ֣ע לִ֑י הַ֝חֲרֵ֗שׁ וְאָנֹכִ֥י אֲדַבֵּֽר׃

KJVMark well, O Job, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will speak.

Pay attention, O Job, listen to me; be silent, and I will speak.

32

אִם יֵ֣שׁ מִ֭לִּין הֲשִׁיבֵ֑נִי דַּ֝בֵּ֗ר כִּי חָפַ֥צְתִּי צַדְּקֶֽךָ׃

KJVIf thou hast any thing to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee.

If you have any words, answer me; speak, for I desire to justify you.

33

אִם אַ֭יִן אַתָּ֣ה שְׁמַֽע לִ֑י הַ֝חֲרֵ֗שׁ וַאֲאַלֶּפְךָ֥ חָכְמָֽה׃

KJVIf not, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee wisdom.

If not, listen to me; be silent, and I will teach you wisdom.
