Acts 2:3

Καὶ ὤφθησαν αὐτοῖς διαμεριζόμεναι γλῶσσαι ὡσεὶ πυρός, ἐκάθισέν τε ἐφ' ἕνα ἕκαστον αὐτῶν.
Kai ōphthēsan aytois diamerizomenai glōssai ōsei pyros, ekathisen te eph' ena ekaston aytōn.
King James Version (KJV)

And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

Modern English

They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
