Acts 2:6

Γενομένης δὲ τῆς φωνῆς ταύτης, συνῆλθεν τὸ πλῆθος καὶ συνεχύθη, ὅτι ἤκουον εἷς ἕκαστος τῇ ἰδίᾳ διαλέκτῳ λαλούντων αὐτῶν.
Genomenēs de tēs phōnēs taytēs, synēlthen to plēthos kai synechythē, oti ēkoyon eis ekastos tē idia dialektō laloyntōn aytōn.

Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

Modern English

When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken.
