αμην αμην λεγω υμιν ο μη εισερχομενος δια της θυρας εις την αυλην των προβατων αλλα αναβαινων αλλαχοθεν εκεινος κλεπτης εστιν και ληστης
KJVVerily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
“Most certainly, I tell you, one who doesn’t enter by the door into the sheep fold, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

ο δε εισερχομενος δια της θυρας ποιμην εστιν των προβατων
KJVBut he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
But one who enters in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
3
τουτω ο θυρωρος ανοιγει και τα προβατα της φωνης αυτου ακουει και τα ιδια προβατα καλει κατ ονομα και εξαγει αυτα
KJVTo him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out.

και οταν τα ιδια προβατα εκβαλη εμπροσθεν αυτων πορευεται και τα προβατα αυτω ακολουθει οτι οιδασιν την φωνην αυτου
KJVAnd when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
Whenever he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.

αλλοτριω δε ου μη ακολουθησωσιν αλλα φευξονται απ αυτου οτι ουκ οιδασιν των αλλοτριων την φωνην
KJVAnd a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
They will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him; for they don’t know the voice of strangers.”

ταυτην την παροιμιαν ειπεν αυτοις ο ιησους εκεινοι δε ουκ εγνωσαν τινα ην α ελαλει αυτοις
KJVThis parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
Jesus spoke this parable to them, but they didn’t understand what he was telling them.

ειπεν ουν παλιν αυτοις ο ιησους αμην αμην λεγω υμιν οτι εγω ειμι η θυρα των προβατων
KJVThen said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
Jesus therefore said to them again, “Most certainly, I tell you, I am the sheep’s door.

παντες οσοι προ εμου ηλθον κλεπται εισιν και λησται αλλ ουκ ηκουσαν αυτων τα προβατα
KJVAll that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep didn’t listen to them.

εγω ειμι η θυρα δι εμου εαν τις εισελθη σωθησεται και εισελευσεται και εξελευσεται και νομην ευρησει
KJVI am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
I am the door. If anyone enters in by me, he will be saved, and will go in and go out, and will find pasture.

ο κλεπτης ουκ ερχεται ει μη ινα κλεψη και θυση και απολεση εγω ηλθον ινα ζωην εχωσιν και περισσον εχωσιν
KJVThe thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have {it} more abundantly.
The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.

εγω ειμι ο ποιμην ο καλος ο ποιμην ο καλος την ψυχην αυτου τιθησιν υπερ των προβατων
KJVI am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

ο μισθωτος δε και ουκ ων ποιμην ου ουκ εισιν τα προβατα ιδια θεωρει τον λυκον ερχομενον και αφιησιν τα προβατα και φευγει και ο λυκος αρπαζει αυτα και σκορπιζει τα προβατα
KJVBut he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who doesn’t own the sheep, sees the wolf coming, leaves the sheep, and flees. The wolf snatches the sheep, and scatters them.

ο δε μισθωτος φευγει οτι μισθωτος εστιν και ου μελει αυτω περι των προβατων
KJVThe hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
The hired hand flees because he is a hired hand, and doesn’t care for the sheep.
14
εγω ειμι ο ποιμην ο καλος και γινωσκω τα εμα και γινωσκομαι υπο των εμων
KJVI am the good shepherd, and know my {sheep}, and am known of mine.
I am the good shepherd. I know my own, and I’m known by my own;
15
καθως γινωσκει με ο πατηρ καγω γινωσκω τον πατερα και την ψυχην μου τιθημι υπερ των προβατων
KJVAs the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
even as the Father knows me, and I know the Father. I lay down my life for the sheep.

και αλλα προβατα εχω α ουκ εστιν εκ της αυλης ταυτης κακεινα με δει αγαγειν και της φωνης μου ακουσουσιν και γενησεται μια ποιμνη εις ποιμην
KJVAnd other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, {and} one shepherd.
I have other sheep, which are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will hear my voice. They will become one flock with one shepherd.

δια τουτο ο πατηρ με αγαπα οτι εγω τιθημι την ψυχην μου ινα παλιν λαβω αυτην
KJVTherefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
Therefore the Father loves me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again.
18
ουδεις αιρει αυτην απ εμου αλλ εγω τιθημι αυτην απ εμαυτου εξουσιαν εχω θειναι αυτην και εξουσιαν εχω παλιν λαβειν αυτην ταυτην την εντολην ελαβον παρα του πατρος μου
KJVNo man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
No one takes it away from me, but I lay it down by myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. I received this commandment from my Father.”

σχισμα ουν παλιν εγενετο εν τοις ιουδαιοις δια τους λογους τουτους
KJVThere was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.
Therefore a division arose again among the Jews because of these words.
20
ελεγον δε πολλοι εξ αυτων δαιμονιον εχει και μαινεται τι αυτου ακουετε
KJVAnd many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?
Many of them said, “He has a demon, and is insane! Why do you listen to him?”
21
αλλοι ελεγον ταυτα τα ρηματα ουκ εστιν δαιμονιζομενου μη δαιμονιον δυναται τυφλων οφθαλμους ανοιγειν
KJVOthers said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?
Others said, “These are not the sayings of one possessed by a demon. It isn’t possible for a demon to open the eyes of the blind, is it?”

εγενετο δε τα εγκαινια εν τοις ιεροσολυμοις και χειμων ην
KJVAnd it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.
It was the Feast of the Dedication at Jerusalem.

και περιεπατει ο ιησους εν τω ιερω εν τη στοα του σολομωντος
KJVAnd Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.
It was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple, in Solomon’s porch.
24
εκυκλωσαν ουν αυτον οι ιουδαιοι και ελεγον αυτω εως ποτε την ψυχην ημων αιρεις ει συ ει ο χριστος ειπε ημιν παρρησια
KJVThen came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly. {make...: or, hold us in suspense}
The Jews therefore came around him and said to him, “How long will you hold us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.”

απεκριθη αυτοις ο ιησους ειπον υμιν και ου πιστευετε τα εργα α εγω ποιω εν τω ονοματι του πατρος μου ταυτα μαρτυρει περι εμου
KJVJesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you don’t believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name, these testify about me.

αλλ υμεις ου πιστευετε ου γαρ εστε εκ των προβατων των εμων καθως ειπον υμιν
KJVBut ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
But you don’t believe, because you are not of my sheep, as I told you.
27
τα προβατα τα εμα της φωνης μου ακουει καγω γινωσκω αυτα και ακολουθουσιν μοι
KJVMy sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
28
καγω ζωην αιωνιον διδωμι αυτοις και ου μη απολωνται εις τον αιωνα και ουχ αρπασει τις αυτα εκ της χειρος μου
KJVAnd I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any {man} pluck them out of my hand.
I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
29
ο πατηρ μου ος δεδωκεν μοι μειζων παντων εστιν και ουδεις δυναται αρπαζειν εκ της χειρος του πατρος μου
KJVMy Father, which gave {them} me, is greater than all; and no {man} is able to pluck {them} out of my Father's hand.
My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of my Father’s hand.

εγω και ο πατηρ εν εσμεν
KJVI and {my} Father are one.
I and the Father are one.”

εβαστασαν ουν παλιν λιθους οι ιουδαιοι ινα λιθασωσιν αυτον
KJVThen the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
Therefore Jews took up stones again to stone him.
32
απεκριθη αυτοις ο ιησους πολλα καλα εργα εδειξα υμιν εκ του πατρος μου δια ποιον αυτων εργον λιθαζετε με
KJVJesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
Jesus answered them, “I have shown you many good works from my Father. For which of those works do you stone me?”

απεκριθησαν αυτω οι ιουδαιοι λεγοντες περι καλου εργου ου λιθαζομεν σε αλλα περι βλασφημιας και οτι συ ανθρωπος ων ποιεις σεαυτον θεον
KJVThe Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
The Jews answered him, “We don’t stone you for a good work, but for blasphemy: because you, being a man, make yourself God.”

απεκριθη αυτοις ο ιησους ουκ εστιν γεγραμμενον εν τω νομω υμων εγω ειπα θεοι εστε
KJVJesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
Jesus answered them, “Isn’t it written in your law, ‘I said, you are gods?’
35
ει εκεινους ειπεν θεους προς ους ο λογος του θεου εγενετο και ου δυναται λυθηναι η γραφη
KJVIf he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture can’t be broken),
36
ον ο πατηρ ηγιασεν και απεστειλεν εις τον κοσμον υμεις λεγετε οτι βλασφημεις οτι ειπον υιος του θεου ειμι
KJVSay ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
do you say of him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You blaspheme,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God?’
37
ει ου ποιω τα εργα του πατρος μου μη πιστευετε μοι
KJVIf I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
If I don’t do the works of my Father, don’t believe me.
38
ει δε ποιω καν εμοι μη πιστευητε τοις εργοις πιστευσατε ινα γνωτε και πιστευσητε οτι εν εμοι ο πατηρ καγω εν αυτω
KJVBut if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father {is} in me, and I in him.
But if I do them, though you don’t believe me, believe the works; that you may know and believe that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.”
39
εζητουν ουν παλιν αυτον πιασαι και εξηλθεν εκ της χειρος αυτων
KJVTherefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,
They sought again to seize him, and he went out of their hand.
40
και απηλθεν παλιν περαν του ιορδανου εις τον τοπον οπου ην ιωαννης το πρωτον βαπτιζων και εμεινεν εκει
KJVAnd went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.
He went away again beyond the Jordan into the place where John was baptizing at first, and there he stayed.
41
και πολλοι ηλθον προς αυτον και ελεγον οτι ιωαννης μεν σημειον εποιησεν ουδεν παντα δε οσα ειπεν ιωαννης περι τουτου αληθη ην
KJVAnd many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.
Many came to him. They said, “John indeed did no sign, but everything that John said about this man is true.”

και επιστευσαν πολλοι εκει εις αυτον
KJVAnd many believed on him there.
Many believed in him there.
