Exodus Chapter 40 — The Tabernacle Erected — The Glory of the LORD | KJV & Biblical Hebrew

וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר

KJVAnd the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

The LORD said to Moses,

2

בְּיוֹם הַחֹדֶשׁ הָרִאשׁוֹן

KJVOn the first day of the first month shalt thou set up the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.

On the first day of the first month you shall erect the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.

3

וְשַׂמְתָּ שָׁם אֵת אֲרוֹן הָעֵדוּת

KJVAnd thou shalt put therein the ark of the testimony, and cover the ark with the vail.

And you shall put in it the ark of the testimony, and you shall screen the ark with the veil.

4

וְהֵבֵאתָ אֶת הַשֻּׁלְחָן

KJVAnd thou shalt bring in the table, and set in order the things that are to be set in order upon it; and thou shalt bring in the candlestick, and light the lamps thereof.

And you shall bring in the table and arrange it, and you shall bring in the lampstand and set up its lamps.

וְנָתַתָּה אֶת מִזְבַּח הַזָּהָב

KJVAnd thou shalt set the altar of gold for the incense before the ark of the testimony, and put the hanging of the door to the tabernacle.

And you shall put the golden altar for incense before the ark of the testimony, and set up the screen for the door of the tabernacle.

וְנָתַתָּה אֵת מִזְבַּח הָעֹלָה

KJVAnd thou shalt set the altar of the burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.

You shall set the altar of burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting,

7

וְנָתַתָּ אֶת הַכִּיֹּר

KJVAnd thou shalt set the laver between the tent of the congregation and the altar, and shalt put water therein.

and place the basin between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it.

8

וְשַׂמְתָּ אֶת הֶחָצֵר סָבִיב

KJVAnd thou shalt set up the court round about, and hang up the hanging at the court gate.

And you shall set up the court all around, and hang up the screen for the gate of the court.

9

וְלָקַחְתָּ אֶת שֶׁמֶן הַמִּשְׁחָה

KJVAnd thou shalt take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is therein, and shalt hallow it, and all the vessels thereof: and it shall be holy.

Then you shall take the anointing oil and anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it, and consecrate it and all its furniture, so that it may become holy.

10

וּמָשַׁחְתָּ אֶת מִזְבַּח הָעֹלָה

KJVAnd thou shalt anoint the altar of the burnt offering, and all his vessels, and sanctify the altar: and it shall be an altar most holy.

You shall also anoint the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and consecrate the altar, so that the altar may become most holy.

וּמָשַׁחְתָּ אֶת הַכִּיֹּר

KJVAnd thou shalt anoint the laver and his foot, and sanctify it.

And you shall anoint the basin and its stand, and consecrate it.

12

וְהִקְרַבְתָּ אֶת אַהֲרֹן

KJVAnd thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and wash them with water.

Then you shall bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the tent of meeting and shall wash them with water

13

וְהִלְבַּשְׁתָּ אֶת אַהֲרֹן

KJVAnd thou shalt put upon Aaron the holy garments, and anoint him, and sanctify him; that he may minister unto me in the priest's office.

and put on Aaron the holy garments. And you shall anoint him and consecrate him, that he may serve me as priest.

14

וְאֶת בָּנָיו תַּקְרִיב

KJVAnd thou shalt bring his sons, and clothe them with coats.

You shall bring his sons also and put coats on them,

15

וּמָשַׁחְתָּ אֹתָם

KJVAnd thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office: for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.

and anoint them, as you anointed their father, that they may serve me as priests. And their anointing shall admit them to a perpetual priesthood throughout their generations.

16

וַיַּעַשׂ מֹשֶׁה כְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה אֹתוֹ

KJVThus did Moses: according to all that the LORD commanded him, so did he.

This Moses did; according to all that the LORD commanded him, so he did.

17

וַיְהִי בַחֹדֶשׁ הָרִאשׁוֹן

KJVAnd it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was reared up.

In the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, the tabernacle was erected.

18

וַיָּקֶם מֹשֶׁה אֶת הַמִּשְׁכָּן

KJVAnd Moses reared up the tabernacle, and fastened his sockets, and set up the boards thereof, and put in the bars thereof, and reared up his pillars.

Moses erected the tabernacle. He laid its bases, and set up its frames, and put in its poles, and raised up its pillars.

19

וַיִּפְרֹשׂ אֶת הָאֹהֶל

KJVAnd he spread abroad the tent over the tabernacle, and put the covering of the tent above upon it; as the LORD commanded Moses.

And he spread the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering of the tent over it, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

20

וַיִּקַּח וַיִּתֵּן אֶת הָעֵדֻת

KJVAnd he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy seat above upon the ark.

He took the testimony and put it into the ark, and put the poles on the ark and set the mercy seat above on the ark.

21

וַיָּבֵא אֶת הָאָרֹן

KJVAnd he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the vail of the covering, and covered the ark of the testimony; as the LORD commanded Moses.

And he brought the ark into the tabernacle and set up the veil of the screen, and screened the ark of the testimony, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

22

וַיִּתֵּן אֶת הַשֻּׁלְחָן

KJVAnd he put the table in the tent of the congregation, upon the side of the tabernacle northward, without the vail.

He put the table in the tent of meeting, on the north side of the tabernacle, outside the veil,

23

וַיַּעֲרֹךְ עָלָיו עֶרֶךְ לֶחֶם

KJVAnd he set the bread in order upon it before the LORD; as the LORD had commanded Moses.

and arranged the bread on it before the LORD, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

24

וַיָּשֶׂם אֶת הַמְּנֹרָה

KJVAnd he put the candlestick in the tent of the congregation, over against the table, on the side of the tabernacle southward.

He put the lampstand in the tent of meeting, opposite the table on the south side of the tabernacle,

25

וַיַּעַל הַנֵּרֹת

KJVAnd he lighted the lamps before the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moses.

and set up the lamps before the LORD, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

26

וַיָּשֶׂם אֶת מִזְבַּח הַזָּהָב

KJVAnd he put the golden altar in the tent of the congregation before the vail.

He put the golden altar in the tent of meeting before the veil,

27

וַיַּקְטֵר עָלָיו קְטֹרֶת סַמִּים

KJVAnd he burnt sweet incense thereon; as the LORD commanded Moses.

and burned fragrant incense on it, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

28

וַיָּשֶׂם אֶת מָסַךְ הַפֶּתַח

KJVAnd he set up the hanging at the door of the tabernacle.

He also put in place the screen for the door of the tabernacle.

29

וְאֵת מִזְבַּח הָעֹלָה

KJVAnd he put the altar of burnt offering by the door of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation, and offered upon it the burnt offering and the meat offering; as the LORD commanded Moses.

And he set the altar of burnt offering at the entrance of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting, and offered on it the burnt offering and the grain offering, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

30

וַיָּשֶׂם אֶת הַכִּיֹּר

KJVAnd he set the laver between the tent of the congregation and the altar, and put water there, to wash withal.

He set the basin between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it for washing,

31

וְרָחֲצוּ מִמֶּנּוּ מֹשֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן

KJVAnd Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet thereat.

with which Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet.

32

בְּבֹאָם אֶל אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד

KJVWhen they went into the tent of the congregation, and when they came near unto the altar, they washed; as the LORD commanded Moses.

When they went into the tent of meeting, and when they approached the altar, they washed, as the LORD commanded Moses.

33

וַיָּקֶם אֶת הֶחָצֵר

KJVAnd he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate. So Moses finished the work.

And he erected the court around the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the screen of the gate of the court. So Moses finished the work.

34

וַיְכַס הֶעָנָן אֶת אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד

KJVThen a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

35

וְלֹא יָכֹל מֹשֶׁה לָבוֹא

KJVAnd Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

And Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud settled on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

36

וּבְהֵעָלוֹת הֶעָנָן

KJVAnd when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys.

Throughout all their journeys, whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the people of Israel would set out.

37

וְאִם לֹא יֵעָלֶה הֶעָנָן

KJVBut if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up.

But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not set out till the day that it was taken up.

38

כִּי עֲנַן יְהוָה עַל הַמִּשְׁכָּן

KJVFor the cloud of the LORD was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

For the cloud of the LORD was on the tabernacle by day, and fire was in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel throughout all their journeys.
