וּבִשְׁמוֹנֶ֥ה שָׁנִ֛ים לְמָלְכ֑וֹ וְה֣וּא עוֹדֶ֔נּוּ נַ֖עַר הֵחֵ֣ל לִדְר֑וֹשׁ לֵ֠אלֹ֠הֵ֡י דָּוִ֡יד אָ֠בִ֡יו וּ֠בִ֠שְׁתֵּ֡ים עֶשְׂרֵ֡ה שָׁנָ֡ה הֵחֵ֡ל לְ֠טַ֠הֵ֡ר אֶ֠ת יְהוּדָ֡ה וִ֠ירוּשָׁלַ֡͏ִם מִ֠ן הַ֠בָּמ֡וֹת וְ֠הָ֠אֲשֵׁרִ֡ים וְ֠הַ֠פְּסִלִ֡ים וְ֠הַ֠מַּסֵּכֽוֹת׃
For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.
Porque en el año octavo de su reinado, siendo aún joven, comenzó a buscar al Dios de David su padre, y en el año doce comenzó a purgar Judá y Jerusalén de los lugares altos, las imágenes de Asera, y las imágenes talladas y de metal.
