Τὸ οὖν ἀγαθὸν ἐμοὶ γέγονεν θάνατος; Μὴ γένοιτο. Ἀλλὰ ἡ ἁμαρτία, ἵνα φανῇ ἁμαρτία, διὰ τοῦ ἀγαθοῦ μοι κατεργαζομένη θάνατον- ἵνα γένηται καθ' ὑπερβολὴν ἁμαρτωλὸς ἡ ἁμαρτία διὰ τῆς ἐντολῆς.
Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.
¿Lo que es bueno se convirtió entonces en muerte para mí? ¡De ninguna manera! Más bien, fue el pecado el que, para mostrarse como pecado, produjo la muerte en mí mediante lo bueno, a fin de que por el mandamiento el pecado llegara a ser sobremanera pecaminoso.
