Job Chapter 12 | KJV & Biblical Hebrew

וַיַּ֥עַן אִיּ֖וֹב וַיֹּאמַֽר׃

KJVAnd Job answered and said,

Then Job answered and said:

2

אָמְנָ֥ם כִּ֣י אַתֶּ֣ם עָ֑ם וְ֝עִמָּכֶ֗ם תָּמ֥וּת חָכְמָֽה׃

KJVNo doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.

No doubt you are the people, and wisdom will die with you.

גַּם לִ֣י לֵבָ֣ב כְּמוֹכֶ֑ם לֹא נֹפֵ֥ל אָ֝נֹכִ֗י מִכֶּ֑ם וְאֶת מִי אֵ֣ין כְּמ֣וֹ אֵֽלֶּה׃

KJVBut I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?

But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you. Who does not know such things as these?

שְׂחֹ֤ק לְרֵעֵ֗הוּ אֶֽהְיֶ֫ה קֹרֵ֥א לֶאֱל֗וֹהַּ וַ֫יַּֽעֲנֵ֥הוּ שְׂח֤וֹק צַדִּ֖יק תָּמִ֣ים׃

KJVI am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.

I am a laughingstock to my friends; I, who called to God and he answered me, a just and blameless man, am a laughingstock.

לַפִּ֣יד בּ֭וּז לְעַשְׁתּ֑וּת שַׁאֲנַ֥ן נָ֝ב֗וֹן לְמֽוֹעֲדֵי רָֽגֶל׃

KJVHe that is ready to slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.

In the thought of one who is at ease there is contempt for misfortune; it is ready for those whose feet slip.

יִשְׁלָ֣יוּ אֹ֭הָלִים לְשֹׁדְדִ֑ים וּ֝בַטֻּח֗וֹת לְמַרְגִּיזֵ֥י אֵֽל לַאֲשֶׁ֗ר הֵבִ֥יא אֱל֗וֹהַּ בְּיָד֥וֹ׃

KJVThe tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly.

The tents of robbers are at peace, and those who provoke God are secure — who bring their god in their hand.

וְ֭אוּלָם שְׁאַל נָ֣א בְהֵמ֑וֹת וְ֝תֹרֶ֗ךָּ וְע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם וְיַגֶּד לָֽךְ׃

KJVBut ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:

But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you;

א֣וֹ שִׂ֭יחַ לָאָ֣רֶץ וְתֹרֶ֑ךָּ וִ֝יסַפְּר֗וּ לְךָ֥ דְּגֵ֬י הַיָּֽם׃

KJVOr speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.

or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you.

מִ֭י לֹא יָדַ֣ע בְּכָל אֵ֑לֶּה כִּ֥י יַד יְ֝הוָ֗ה עָ֣שְׂתָה זֹּֽאת׃

KJVWho knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?

Who among all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this?

אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּ֭יָדוֹ נֶ֣פֶשׁ כָּל חָ֑י וְ֝ר֗וּחַ כָּל בְּשַׂר אִֽישׁ׃

KJVIn whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.

הֲלֹֽא אֹ֭זֶן מִלִּ֣ין תִּבְחָ֑ן וְחֵ֝ךְ אֹ֗כֶל יִטְעַם לֽוֹ׃

KJVDoth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?

Does not the ear test words as the palate tastes food?

בִּישִׁישִׁ֥ים חָכְמָ֑ה וְאֹ֥רֶךְ יָ֝מִ֗ים תְּבוּנָֽה׃

KJVWith the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.

Wisdom is with the aged, and understanding in length of days.

13

עִמּ֣וֹ חָ֭כְמָה וּגְבוּרָ֑ה ל֥וֹ עֵ֝צָ֗ה וּתְבוּנָֽה׃

KJVWith him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.

With God are wisdom and might; he has counsel and understanding.

הֵ֣ן יֶ֭הֱרוֹס וְלֹ֣א יִבָּנֶ֑ה יִסְגֹּ֥ר עַל אִ֝֗ישׁ וְלֹ֣א יִפָּתֵֽחַ׃

KJVBehold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.

If he tears down, none can rebuild; if he shuts a man in, none can open.

הֵ֣ן יַ֭עְצֹר בַּמַּ֣יִם וְיִיבָ֑שׁוּ וִֽ֝ישַׁלְּחֵ֗ם וְיַהַפְכ֥וּ אָֽרֶץ׃

KJVBehold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.

If he withholds the waters, they dry up; if he sends them out, they overwhelm the land.

16

עִמּ֣וֹ עֹ֭ז וְתוּשִׁיָּ֑ה ל֥וֹ שֹׁ֝גֵ֗ג וּמַשְׁגֶּֽה׃

KJVWith him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.

With him are strength and sound wisdom; the deceived and the deceiver are his.

17

מוֹלִ֣יךְ יוֹעֲצִ֣ים שׁוֹלָ֑ל וְ֝שֹׁפְטִ֗ים יְהוֹלֵֽל׃

KJVHe leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.

He leads counselors away stripped, and judges he makes fools.

18

מוּסַ֣ר מְלָכִ֣ים פִּתֵּ֑חַ וַ֝יֶּאְסֹ֗ר אֵז֥וֹר בְּמָתְנֵיהֶֽם׃

KJVHe looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.

He looses the bonds of kings and binds a waistcloth on their hips.

19

מוֹלִ֣יךְ כֹּ֭הֲנִים שׁוֹלָ֑ל וְ֝אֵתָנִ֗ים יְסַלֵּֽף׃

KJVHe leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.

He leads priests away stripped and overthrows the mighty.

20

מֵסִ֣יר שָׂ֭פָה לְנֶאֱמָנִ֑ים וְטַ֥עַם זְ֝קֵנִ֗ים יִקָּֽח׃

KJVHe removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.

He deprives of speech those who are trusted and takes away the discernment of the elders.

21

שׁוֹפֵ֣ךְ בּ֭וּז עַל נְדִיבִ֑ים וּ֝מְזִ֗יחַ אֲפִיקִ֥ים רִפָּֽה׃

KJVHe poureth contempt upon princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.

He pours contempt on princes and loosens the belt of the strong.

22

מְגַלֶּ֣ה עֲ֭מֻקוֹת מִנִּי חֹ֑שֶׁךְ וַ֝יֹּצֵ֗א לָא֥וֹר צַלְמָֽוֶת׃

KJVHe discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.

He uncovers the deeps out of darkness and brings deep darkness to light.

23

מַשְׂגִּ֣יא לַגּוֹיִ֣ם וַֽיְאַבְּדֵ֑ם שֹׁטֵ֥חַ לַ֝גּוֹיִ֗ם וַיַּנְחֵֽם׃

KJVHe increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.

He makes nations great, and he destroys them; he enlarges nations, and leads them away.

24

מֵסִ֗יר לֵ֭ב רָאשֵׁ֣י עַם הָאָ֑רֶץ וַ֝יַּתְעֵ֗ם בְּת֣וֹהוּ לֹא דָֽרֶךְ׃

KJVHe taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.

He takes away understanding from the chiefs of the people of the earth and makes them wander in a pathless waste.

25

יְמַשְׁשׁ֣וּ חֹ֭שֶׁךְ וְלֹא אֽוֹר וַיַּתְעֵ֥ם כַּשִּׁכּֽוֹר׃

KJVThey grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.

They grope in the dark without light, and he makes them stagger like a drunken man.
