וַיַּ֥עַן אֱלִיה֖וּא וַיֹּאמַֽר׃
KJVElihu spake moreover, and said,
And Elihu answered and said:

הֲ זֹ֣את חָ֭שַׁבְתָּ לְמִשְׁפָּ֑ט אָ֝מַ֗רְתָּ צִדְקִ֥י מֵאֵֽל׃
KJVThinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God's?
Do you think this to be just? Do you say: It is my right before God,

כִּי תֹ֭אמַר מַה יִּסְכָּן לָ֑ךְ מָה אֶ֝עֱזֹ֗ל מֵחַטָּאתִֽי׃
KJVFor thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?
that you ask: What advantage have I? How am I better off than if I had sinned?

אֲ֭נִי אֲשִׁיבְךָ֣ מִלִּ֑ין וְאֶת רֵעֶ֥יךָ עִמָּֽךְ׃
KJVI will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.
I will answer you and your friends with you.

הַבֵּ֥ט שָׁמַ֗יִם וּרְאֵ֑ה וְשׁ֥וּר שְׁחָקִ֗ים גָּבְה֥וּ מִמֶּֽךָּ׃
KJVLook unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.
Look at the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds, which are higher than you.

אִם חָ֭טָאתָ מַה תִּפְעָל בּ֑וֹ וְרַבּ֥וּ פְ֝שָׁעֶ֗יךָ מַה תַּעֲשֶׂה לּֽוֹ׃
KJVIf thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?
If you have sinned, what do you accomplish against him? And if your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to him?

אִם צָ֭דַקְתָּ מַה תִּתֶּן ל֑וֹ אֽוֹ מַה מִיָּדְךָ֥ יִקָּֽח׃
KJVIf thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?
If you are righteous, what do you give to him? Or what does he receive from your hand?

לְאִ֣ישׁ כָּ֭מוֹךָ רִשְׁעֶ֑ךָ וּלְבֶן אָ֝דָ֗ם צִדְקָתֶֽךָ׃
KJVThy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.
Your wickedness concerns a man like yourself, and your righteousness a son of man.

מֵרֹ֣ב עֲ֭שׁוּקִים יַזְעִ֑יקוּ יְ֝שַׁוְּע֗וּ מִזְּר֥וֹעַ רַבִּֽים׃
KJVBy reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.
Because of the multitude of oppressions people cry out; they call for help because of the arm of the mighty.

וְלֹ֤א אָמַ֨ר ׀ אַיֵּה֮ אֱל֪וֹהַּ עֹשָׂ֫י נֹתֵ֥ן זְ֭מִרוֹת בַּלָּֽיְלָה׃
KJVBut none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;
But none says: Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night,

מַלְּפֵ֣נוּ מִ֭בֶּהֱמוֹת אָ֑רֶץ וּמֵע֥וֹף הַ֝שָּׁמַ֗יִם יְחַכְּמֵֽנוּ׃
KJVWho teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?
who teaches us more than the beasts of the earth and makes us wiser than the birds of the heavens?

שָׁ֤ם יִצְעֲק֗וּ וְלֹ֣א יַ֭עֲנֶה מִפְּנֵ֥י גְּאוֹן רָעִֽים׃
KJVThere they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
There they cry out, but he does not answer, because of the pride of evil men.

אַךְ שָׁ֥וְא לֹא יִשְׁמַ֥ע אֵ֑ל וְ֝שַׁדַּ֗י לֹ֣א יְשׁוּרֶֽנָּה׃
KJVSurely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
Surely God does not hear an empty cry, nor does the Almighty regard it.
14
אַ֭ף כִּי תֹאמַ֣ר לֹ֣א תְשׁוּרֶ֑נּוּ דִּ֥ין לְ֝פָנָ֗יו וּתְחוֹלֵ֥ל לֽוֹ׃
KJVAlthough thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.
How much less when you say that you do not see him, that the case is before him, and you are waiting for him!

וְעַתָּ֗ה כִּי אַ֭יִן פָּקַ֣ד אַפּ֑וֹ וְלֹא יָדַ֥ע בַּ֝פַּ֗שׁ מְאֹֽד׃
KJVBut now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:
And now, because his anger does not punish, and he does not take much note of transgression,
16
וְ֭אִיּוֹב הֶ֣בֶל יִפְצֶה פִ֑יהוּ בִּ֝בְלִי דַ֗עַת מִלִּ֥ין יַכְבִּֽיר׃
KJVTherefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
Job opens his mouth in empty talk; he multiplies words without knowledge.
