וַיֹּ֥סֶף אֱלִיה֖וּא וַיֹּאמַֽר׃
KJVElihu also proceeded, and said,
And Elihu continued and said:
2
כַּתַּר לִי זְעֵ֑יר וַאֲחַוֶּ֥ךָּ כִּ֝י ע֣וֹד לֶאֱלֹ֣והַּ מִלִּֽים׃
KJVSuffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God's behalf.
Bear with me a little, and I will show you, for I have yet something to say on God's behalf.

אֶשָּׂ֣א דֵ֭עִי לְמֵרָח֑וֹק וּ֝לְפֹ֗עֲלִי אֶתֵּ֥ן צֶֽדֶק׃
KJVI will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.
I will fetch my knowledge from afar and ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

כִּ֤י אָמְנָ֨ם ׀ לֹא שֶׁ֣קֶר מִ֭לָּי תְּמִ֣ים דֵּע֑וֹת עִמָּֽךְ׃
KJVFor truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.
For truly my words are not false; one who is perfect in knowledge is with you.

הֶן אֵ֣ל כַּ֭בִּיר וְלֹ֣א יִמְאָ֑ס כַּ֝בִּ֗יר כֹּ֣חַ לֵֽב׃
KJVBehold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.
Behold, God is mighty, and does not despise any; he is mighty in strength of understanding.

לֹ֣א יְחַיֶּ֣ה רָשָׁ֑ע וּמִשְׁפַּ֖ט עֲנִיִּ֣ים יִתֵּֽן׃
KJVHe preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.
He does not keep the wicked alive, but gives the afflicted their right.

לֹא יִגְרַ֣ע מִ֭צַּדִּיק עֵינָ֑יו וְאֶת מְ֝לָכִ֗ים לַכִּסֵּ֥א וַיֹּשִׁיבֵֽם׃
KJVHe withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.
He does not withdraw his eyes from the righteous, but with kings on the throne he sets them forever, and they are exalted.

וְאִם אֲסוּרִ֥ים בַּזִּקִּ֑ים יִ֝לָּכְד֗וּן בְּחַבְלֵי עֹֽנִי׃
KJVAnd if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;
And if they are bound in chains and caught in the cords of affliction,

וַיַּגֵּ֣ד לָ֭הֶם פָּעֳלָ֑ם וּפִשְׁעֵיהֶ֥ם כִּ֝י יִתְגַּבָּֽרוּ׃
KJVThen he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.
then he declares to them their work and their transgressions, that they are behaving arrogantly.

וַיִּגֶל אָזְנָ֥ם לַמּוּסָ֑ר וַיֹּ֥אמֶר כִּ֝י יְשׁוּב֥וּן מֵאָֽוֶן׃
KJVHe openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.
He opens their ear to instruction and commands that they return from iniquity.
11
אִם יִשְׁמְע֣וּ וְ֭יַעֲבֹדוּ יְכַלּ֣וּ יְמֵיהֶ֑ם בַּ֝טּ֗וֹב וּשְׁנֵיהֶ֥ם בַּנְּעִימִֽים׃
KJVIf they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
If they listen and serve him, they complete their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasantness.
12
וְאִם לֹ֣א יִשְׁמְע֗וּ בְּ֭שֶׁלַח יַעֲבֹ֑רוּ וְ֝יִגְוְע֗וּ בִּבְלִי דָֽעַת׃
KJVBut if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.
But if they do not listen, they perish by the sword and die without knowledge.
13
וְחַנְפֵי לֵ֭ב יָשִׂ֣ימוּ אָ֑ף לֹ֥א יְ֝שַׁוְּע֗וּ כִּ֣י אֲסָרָֽם׃
KJVBut the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.
The godless in heart cherish anger; they do not cry for help when he binds them.
14
תָּמֹ֣ת בַּנֹּ֣עַר נַפְשָׁ֑ם וְ֝חַיָּתָ֗ם בַּקְּדֵשִֽׁים׃
KJVThey die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.
They die in youth, and their life ends among the cult prostitutes.
15
יְחַלֵּ֣ץ עָ֭נִי בְּעָנְי֑וֹ וְ֝יִגֶל בַּלַּ֗חַץ אָזְנָֽם׃
KJVHe delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.
He delivers the afflicted by their affliction and opens their ear by adversity.
16
וְאַף הֲ֭סִיתְךָ מִפִּי צָ֑ר רַ֖חַב לֹא מוּצָ֣ק תַּחְתֶּ֗יהָ וְנַ֣חַת שֻׁלְחָנְךָ מָלֵ֣א דָֽשֶׁן׃
KJVEven so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness.
He also allured you out of distress into a broad place where there was no cramping, and what was set on your table was full of fatness.
17
וְדִין רָשָׁ֥ע מָ֑לֵאתָ דִּ֝֗ין וּמִשְׁפָּ֥ט יִתְמֹֽכוּ׃
KJVBut thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.
But you are full of the judgment on the wicked; judgment and justice seize you.
18
כִּי חֵ֤מָה ׀ פֶּן יְסִיתְךָ֥ בְסָ֑פֶק וְרַב כֹּ֝פֶר אַל יַטֶּֽךָּ׃
KJVBecause there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.
Beware lest wrath entice you into scoffing, and let not the greatness of the ransom turn you aside.
19
הֲיַעֲרֹ֣ךְ שׁ֭וּעֲךָ לֹ֣א בְצָ֑ר וְ֝כֹ֗ל מַאֲמַצֵּי כֹֽחַ׃
KJVWill he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.
Will your cry for help avail to keep you from distress, or all the force of your strength?
20
אַל תִּשְׁאַ֣ף הַ֭לַּיְלָה לַעֲל֥וֹת עַמִּ֗ים תַּחְתָּֽם׃
KJVDesire not the night, when people are cut off in their place.
Do not long for the night, when peoples vanish in their place.
21
הִשָּׁ֥מֶר אַל תֵּ֣פֶן אֶל אָ֑וֶן כִּי עַל זֶ֝ה בָּחַ֥רְתָּ מֵעֹֽנִי׃
KJVTake heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.
Take care; do not turn to iniquity, for this you have chosen rather than affliction.
22
הֶן אֵ֭ל יַשְׂגִּ֣יב בְּכֹח֑וֹ מִ֥י כָ֝מֹ֗הוּ מוֹרֶֽה׃
KJVBehold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?
Behold, God is exalted in his power; who is a teacher like him?
23
מִֽי פָ֭קַד עָלָ֣יו דַּרְכּ֑וֹ וּמִ֥י אָ֝מַ֗ר פָּעַ֥לְתָּ עַוְלָֽה׃
KJVWho hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?
Who has prescribed for him his way, or who can say: You have done wrong?
24
זְכֹ֥ר כִּ֣י תַשְׂגִּ֣יא פָעֳל֑וֹ אֲשֶׁ֥ר שֹׁ֝רְר֗וּ אֲנָשִֽׁים׃
KJVRemember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.
Remember to extol his work, of which men have sung.
25
כָּל אָדָ֥ם חָֽזוּ ב֑וֹ אֱ֝נ֗וֹשׁ יַבִּ֥יט מֵרָחֽוֹק׃
KJVEvery man may see it; man may behold it afar off.
Every man has looked on it; man beholds it from afar.
26
הֶן אֵ֣ל שַׂ֭גִּיא וְלֹ֣א נֵדָ֑ע מִסְפַּ֥ר שָׁ֝נָ֗יו וְלֹ֣א חֵקֶֽר׃
KJVBehold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.
Behold, God is great, and we know him not; the number of his years is unsearchable.
27
כִּ֭י יְגָרַ֣ע נִטְפֵי מָ֑יִם יָזֹ֖קּוּ מָטָ֣ר לְאֵדֽוֹ׃
KJVFor he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof:
For he draws up the drops of water; they distill his mist in rain,
28
אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִ֭זְּלוּ שְׁחָקִ֑ים יִ֝רְעֲפ֗וּ עֲלֵי אָדָ֥ם רָֽב׃
KJVWhich the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.
which the skies pour down and drop on mankind abundantly.
29
אַ֣ף אִם יָ֭בִין מִפְרְשֵׂי עָ֑ב תְּ֝שֻׁאֽוֹת סֻכָּתֽוֹ׃
KJVAlso can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?
Can anyone understand the spreading of the clouds, the thunderings of his pavilion?
30
הֵ֤ן פָּרַ֣שׂ עָלָ֣יו אוֹר֑וֹ וְשָׁרְשֵׁ֥י הַ֝יָּ֗ם כִּסָּֽה׃
KJVBehold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea.
Behold, he scatters his lightning about him and covers the roots of the sea.
31
כִּי בָ֭ם יָדִ֣ין עַמִּ֑ים יִֽתֶּן אֹ֥כֶל לְמַכְבִּֽיר׃
KJVFor by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.
For by these he judges peoples; he gives food in abundance.
32
עַל כַּפַּ֥יִם כִּסָּה אוֹר֑ וַיְצַ֖ו עָלֶ֣יהָ בְמַפְגִּֽיעַ׃
KJVWith clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt.
He covers his hands with the lightning and commands it to strike the mark.
33
יַגִּ֣יד עָלָ֣יו רֵע֑וֹ מִקְנֶ֥ה אַ֝ף עַל עוֹלֶֽה׃
KJVThe noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour.
Its crashing declares his presence; the cattle also declare that he rises.
