מַשְׂכִּ֗יל לְ֫אָסָ֥ף לָ֭מָה אֱלֹהִ֣ים זָנַ֣חְתָּ לָנֶ֑צַח יֶ֝עְשַׁ֗ן אַפְּךָ֤ בְּצֹ֣אן מַרְעִיתֶֽךָ׃
KJVMaschil of Asaph. O God, why hast thou cast us off for ever? why doth thine anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture?
A Maskil of Asaph. O God, why do you cast us off forever? Why does your anger smoke against the sheep of your pasture?

זְכֹ֤ר עֲדָתְךָ֮ קָנִ֪יתָ קֶּ֫דֶם גָּאַ֥לְתָּ שֵׁ֣בֶט נַחֲלָתֶ֑ךָ הַר צִיּ֥וֹן זֶ֝ה שָׁ֣כַנְתָּ בּֽוֹ׃
KJVRemember thy congregation, which thou hast purchased of old; the rod of thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed; this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt.
Remember your congregation, which you have purchased of old, which you have redeemed to be the tribe of your heritage! Remember Mount Zion, where you have dwelt.

הָרִ֥ימָה פְעָמֶ֑יךָ לְמַשֻּׁא֥וֹת נֶ֝צַח כָּל הֵרַ֥ע אוֹיֵ֗ב בַּקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃
KJVLift up thy feet unto the perpetual desolations; even all that the enemy hath done wickedly in the sanctuary.
Direct your steps to the perpetual ruins; the enemy has destroyed everything in the sanctuary!

שָׁאֲג֣וּ צֹ֭רְרֶיךָ בְּקֶ֣רֶב מוֹעֲדֶ֑ךָ שָׂ֝מ֗וּ אוֹתֹתָ֥ם אֹתֽוֹת׃
KJVThine enemies roar in the midst of thy congregations; they set up their ensigns for signs.
Your foes have roared in the midst of your meeting place; they set up their own signs for signs.

יִוָּדַ֗ע כְּמֵבִ֣יא לְמָ֣עְלָה בִּסְבַ֖ך עֵ֣ץ קַרְדֻּמּֽוֹת׃
KJVA man was famous according as he had lifted up axes upon the thick trees.
They were like those who swing axes in a forest of trees.

וְעֶ֥תָּה פִּתּוּחֶ֑יהָ יָּ֗חַד בְּכַשִּׁ֥יל וְכֵילַפּ֗וֹת יְהַלְּמֽוּן׃
KJVBut now they break down the carved work thereof at once with axes and hammers.
And all its carved wood they broke down with hatchets and hammers.

שִׁ֭לְּחוּ בָאֵ֣שׁ מִקְדָּשֶׁ֑ךָ לָ֝אָ֗רֶץ חִ֣לְּלוּ מִשְׁכַּן שְׁמֶֽךָ׃
KJVThey have cast fire into thy sanctuary, they have defiled by casting down the dwelling place of thy name to the ground.
They set your sanctuary on fire; they profaned the dwelling place of your name, bringing it down to the ground.

אָמְר֣וּ בְ֭לִבָּם נִינָ֣ם יָ֑חַד שָׂרְפ֥וּ כָל מוֹעֲדֵי אֵ֣ל בָּאָֽרֶץ׃
KJVThey said in their hearts, Let us destroy them together: they have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land.
They said to themselves: We will utterly subdue them; they burned all the meeting places of God in the land.

אוֹתֹתֵ֗ינוּ לֹ֫א רָאִ֥ינוּ אֵֽין עוֹד נָבִ֑יא וְלֹא אִ֗תָּנוּ יֹדֵ֥עַ עַד מָֽה׃
KJVWe see not our signs: there is no more any prophet: neither is there among us any that knoweth how long.
We do not see our signs; there is no longer any prophet, and there is none among us who knows how long.

עַד מָתַ֣י אֱ֭לֹהִים יְחָ֣רֶף צָ֑ר יְנָאֵ֖ץ אוֹיֵ֣ב שִׁמְךָ֣ לָנֶֽצַח׃
KJVO God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?
How long, O God, is the foe to scoff? Is the enemy to revile your name forever?

לָ֭מָּה תָשִׁ֣יב יָדְךָ֑ וִ֝ימִינְךָ֗ מִקֶּ֥רֶב חֵיקְךָ֗ כַלֵּֽה׃
KJVWhy withdrawest thou thy hand, even thy right hand? pluck it out of thy bosom.
Why do you hold back your hand, your right hand? Take it from the fold of your garment and destroy them!

וֵֽ֭אלֹהִים מַלְכִּ֣י מִקֶּ֑דֶם פֹּ֝עֵ֗ל יְשׁוּע֥וֹת בְּקֶ֣רֶב הָאָֽרֶץ׃
KJVFor God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.
Yet God my King is from of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.
13
אַתָּ֣ה פוֹרַ֣רְתָּ בְעָזְּךָ֣ יָ֑ם שִׁ֝בַּ֗רְתָּ רָאשֵׁ֥י תַנִּינִ֗ים עַל הַמָּֽיִם׃
KJVThou didst divide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters.
You divided the sea by your might; you broke the heads of the sea monsters on the waters.

אַ֭תָּה רִצַּ֣צְתָּ רָאשֵׁ֣י לִוְיָתָ֑ן תִּ֝תְּנֶ֗נּוּ מַאֲכָ֥ל לְעָ֣ם לְצִיִּֽים׃
KJVThou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, and gavest him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness.
You crushed the heads of Leviathan; you gave him as food for the creatures of the wilderness.
15
אַ֭תָּה בָקַ֣עְתָּ מַעְיָ֣ן וָנָ֑חַל אַ֝תָּ֗ה הוֹבַ֥שְׁתָּ נַהֲר֗וֹת אֵיתָֽן׃
KJVThou didst cleave the fountain and the flood: thou driedst up mighty rivers.
You split open springs and brooks; you dried up ever-flowing streams.
16
לְךָ֣ י֭וֹם אַף לְךָ֣ לָ֑יְלָה אַ֝תָּ֗ה הֲכִינ֥וֹתָ מָא֥וֹר וָשָֽׁמֶשׁ׃
KJVThe day is thine, the night also is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun.
Yours is the day, yours also the night; you have established the heavenly lights and the sun.
17
אַ֭תָּה הִצַּ֣בְתָּ כָּל גְּבוּל֑וֹת אָ֝רֶץ קַ֣יִץ וָחֹ֣רֶף אַתָּ֗ה יְצַרְתָּֽם׃
KJVThou hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast made summer and winter.
You have fixed all the boundaries of the earth; you have made summer and winter.
18
זְכָר זֹ֗את אוֹיֵ֣ב חֵרֵ֣ף יְהוָ֑ה וְ֝עַ֗ם נָבָ֥ל נִ֣אֲצוּ שְׁמֶֽךָ׃
KJVRemember this, that the enemy hath reproached, O LORD, and that the foolish people have blasphemed thy name.
Remember this, O LORD, how the enemy scoffs, and a foolish people reviles your name.

אַל תִּתֵּ֣ן לְחַיַּת נֶ֣פֶשׁ תּוֹרֶ֑ךָ חַיַּ֥ת עֲ֝נִיֶּ֗יךָ אַל תִּשְׁכַּ֥ח לָנֶֽצַח׃
KJVO deliver not the soul of thy turtledove unto the multitude of the wicked: forget not the congregation of thy poor for ever.
Do not deliver the soul of your dove to the wild beasts; do not forget the life of your poor forever.
20
הַבֵּ֣ט לַ֭בְּרִית כִּ֣י מָלְא֣וּ מַחֲשַׁכֵּי אֶ֑רֶץ נְא֣וֹת חָמָֽס׃
KJVHave respect unto the covenant: for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty.
Have regard for the covenant, for the dark places of the land are full of the habitations of violence.
21
אַל יָשֹׁ֣ב דַּ֭ךְ נִכְלָ֑ם עָנִ֖י וְאֶבְי֣וֹן יְהַלְל֗וּ שְׁמֶֽךָ׃
KJVO let not the oppressed return ashamed: let the poor and needy praise thy name.
Let not the downtrodden turn back in shame; let the poor and needy praise your name.
22
ק֘וּמָ֤ה אֱלֹהִ֗ים רִ֭יבָה רִיבֶ֑ךָ זְכֹ֥ר חֶרְפָּתְךָ֗ מִנִּי נָבָ֥ל כָּל הַיּֽוֹם׃
KJVArise, O God, plead thine own cause: remember how the foolish man reproacheth thee daily.
Arise, O God, defend your cause; remember how the foolish scoff at you all the day!
23
אַל תִּשְׁכַּ֥ח ק֥וֹל צֹרְרֶ֑יךָ שְּׁא֥וֹן קָ֝מֶ֗יךָ עֹלֶ֥ה תָמִֽיד׃
KJVForget not the voice of thine enemies: the tumult of those that rise up against thee increaseth continually.
Do not forget the clamor of your foes, the uproar of those who rise against you, which goes up continually!
