וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר

KJVAnd the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

2

צַו אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵהֶם כִּי-אַתֶּם בָּאִים אֶל-הָאָרֶץ כְּנָעַן זֹאת הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר תִּפֹּל לָכֶם בְּנַחֲלָה אֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן לִגְבֻלֹתֶיהָ

KJVCommand the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land of Canaan; (this is the land that shall fall unto you for an inheritance, even the land of Canaan with the coasts thereof:)

Command the people of Israel, and say to them, When you enter the land of Canaan (this is the land that shall fall to you for an inheritance, the land of Canaan as defined by its borders),

וְהָיָה לָכֶם פְּאַת-נֶגֶב מִמִּדְבַּר-צִן עַל-יְדֵי אֱדוֹם וְהָיָה לָכֶם גְּבוּל נֶגֶב מִקְצֵה יָם-הַמֶּלַח קֵדְמָה

KJVThen your south quarter shall be from the wilderness of Zin along by the coast of Edom, and your south border shall be the outmost coast of the salt sea eastward:

your south side shall be from the wilderness of Zin alongside Edom, and your southern border shall run from the end of the Salt Sea on the east.

וְנָסַב לָכֶם הַגְּבוּל מִנֶּגֶב לְמַעֲלֵה עַקְרַבִּים וְעָבַר צִנָה וְהָיָה תּוֹצְאֹתָיו מִנֶּגֶב לְקָדֵשׁ בַּרְנֵעַ וְיָצָא חֲצַר-אַדָּר וְעָבַר עַצְמֹנָה

KJVAnd your border shall turn from the south to the ascent of Akrabbim, and pass on to Zin: and the going forth thereof shall be from the south to Kadesh-barnea, and shall go on to Hazar-addar, and pass on to Azmon:

And your border shall turn south of the ascent of Akrabbim, and cross to Zin, and its limit shall be south of Kadesh-barnea. Then it shall go on to Hazar-addar, and pass along to Azmon.

וְנָסַב הַגְּבוּל מֵעַצְמוֹן נַחְלָה מִצְרָיִם וְהָיוּ תוֹצְאֹתָיו הַיָּמָּה

KJVAnd the border shall fetch a compass from Azmon unto the river of Egypt, and the goings out of it shall be at the sea.

And the border shall turn from Azmon to the Brook of Egypt, and its limit shall be at the sea.

וּגְבוּל יָם וְהָיָה לָכֶם הַיָּם הַגָּדוֹל וּגְבוּל זֶה-יִהְיֶה לָכֶם גְּבוּל יָם

KJVAnd as for the western border, ye shall even have the great sea for a border: this shall be your west border.

For the western border, you shall have the Great Sea and its coast. This shall be your western border.

וְזֶה-יִהְיֶה לָכֶם גְּבוּל צָפוֹן מִן-הַיָּם הַגָּדֹל תְּתָאוּ לָכֶם הֹר הָהָר

KJVAnd this shall be your north border: from the great sea ye shall point out for you mount Hor:

This shall be your northern border: from the Great Sea you shall draw a line to Mount Hor.

מֵהֹר הָהָר תְּתָאוּ לְבֹא חֲמָת וְהָיוּ תּוֹצְאֹת הַגְּבֻל צְדָדָה

KJVFrom mount Hor ye shall point out your border unto the entrance of Hamath; and the goings forth of the border shall be to Zedad:

From Mount Hor you shall draw a line to Lebo-hamath, and the limit of the border shall be at Zedad.

וְיָצָא הַגְּבֻל זִפְרֹנָה וְהָיוּ תוֹצְאֹתָיו חֲצַר עֵינָן זֶה-יִהְיֶה לָכֶם גְּבוּל צָפוֹן

KJVAnd the border shall go on to Ziphron, and the goings out of it shall be at Hazar-enan: this shall be your north border.

Then the border shall extend to Ziphron, and its limit shall be at Hazar-enan. This shall be your northern border.

וְהִתְאַוִּיתֶם לָכֶם לִגְבוּל קֵדְמָה מֵחֲצַר עֵינָן שְׁפָמָה

KJVAnd ye shall point out your east border from Hazar-enan to Shepham:

You shall draw a line for your eastern border from Hazar-enan to Shepham.

וְיָרַד הַגְּבֻל מִשְּׁפָם הָרִבְלָה מִקֶּדֶם לָעָיִן וְיָרַד הַגְּבֻל וּמָחָה עַל-כֶּתֶף יָם-כִּנֶּרֶת קֵדְמָה

KJVAnd the coast shall go down from Shepham to Riblah, on the east side of Ain; and the border shall descend, and shall reach unto the side of the sea of Chinnereth eastward:

And the border shall go down from Shepham to Riblah on the east side of Ain. And the border shall go down and reach to the shoulder of the Sea of Chinnereth on the east.

וְיָרַד הַגְּבוּל הַיַּרְדֵּנָה וְהָיוּ תוֹצְאֹתָיו יָם הַמֶּלַח זֹאת תִּהְיֶה לָכֶם הָאָרֶץ לִגְבֻלֹתֶיהָ סָבִיב

KJVAnd the border shall go down to Jordan, and the goings out of it shall be at the salt sea: this shall be your land with the coasts thereof round about.

And the border shall go down to the Jordan, and its limit shall be at the Salt Sea. This shall be your land as defined by its borders all around.

וַיְצַו מֹשֶׁה אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר זֹאת הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר תִּתְנַחֲלוּ אֹתָהּ בְּגוֹרָל אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה לָתֵת לְתִשְׁעַת הַמַּטּוֹת וַחֲצִי הַמַּטֶּה

KJVAnd Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying, This is the land which ye shall inherit by lot, which the LORD commanded to give unto the nine tribes, and to the half tribe:

Moses commanded the people of Israel, saying, This is the land that you shall inherit by lot, which the LORD has commanded to give to the nine tribes and to the half-tribe.

כִּי לָקְחוּ מַטֵּה בְנֵי הָראוּבֵנִי לְבֵית אֲבֹתָם וּמַטֵּה בְנֵי-הַגָּדִי לְבֵית אֲבֹתָם וַחֲצִי מַטֵּה מְנַשֶּׁה לָקְחוּ נַחֲלָתָם

KJVFor the tribe of the children of Reuben according to the house of their fathers, and the tribe of the children of Gad according to the house of their fathers, have received their inheritance; and half the tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance:

For the tribe of the people of Reuben by fathers' houses and the tribe of the people of Gad by their fathers' houses have received their inheritance, and also the half-tribe of Manasseh.

שְׁנֵי הַמַּטּוֹת וַחֲצִי הַמַּטֶּה לָקְחוּ נַחֲלָתָם מֵעֵבֶר לְיַרְדֵּן יְרֵחוֹ קֵדְמָה מִזְרָחָה

KJVThe two tribes and the half tribe have received their inheritance on this side Jordan near Jericho eastward, toward the sunrising.

The two tribes and the half-tribe have received their inheritance beyond the Jordan east of Jericho, toward the sunrise.

וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר

KJVAnd the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

17

אֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹת הָאֲנָשִׁים אֲשֶׁר-יִנְחֲלוּ לָכֶם אֶת-הָאָרֶץ אֶלְעָזָר הַכֹּהֵן וִיהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּן-נוּן

KJVThese are the names of the men which shall divide the land unto you: Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun.

These are the names of the men who shall divide the land to you for inheritance: Eleazar the priest and Joshua the son of Nun.

וְנָשִׂיא אֶחָד נָשִׂיא אֶחָד מִמַּטֶּה תִּקְחוּ לִנְחֹל אֶת-הָאָרֶץ

KJVAnd ye shall take one prince of every tribe, to divide the land by inheritance.

You shall take one chief from every tribe to divide the land for inheritance.

19

וְאֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹת הָאֲנָשִׁים לְמַטֵּה יְהוּדָה כָּלֵב בֶּן-יְפֻנֶּה

KJVAnd the names of the men are these: Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

These are the names of the men: Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

20

וּלְמַטֵּה בְּנֵי שִׁמְעוֹן שְׁמוּאֵל בֶּן-עַמִּיהוּד

KJVAnd of the tribe of the children of Simeon, Shemuel the son of Ammihud.

Of the tribe of the people of Simeon, Shemuel the son of Ammihud.

21

לְמַטֵּה בִנְיָמִן אֱלִידָד בֶּן-כִּסְלוֹן

KJVOf the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad the son of Chislon.

22

וּלְמַטֵּה בְנֵי-דָן נָשִׂיא בֻּקִּי בֶּן-יָגְלִי

KJVAnd the prince of the tribe of the children of Dan, Bukki the son of Jogli.

Of the tribe of the people of Dan a chief, Bukki the son of Jogli.

23

לִבְנֵי יוֹסֵף לְמַטֵּה בְנֵי-מְנַשֶּׁה נָשִׂיא חַנִּיאֵל בֶּן-אֵפֹד

KJVThe prince of the children of Joseph, for the tribe of the children of Manasseh, Hanniel the son of Ephod.

Of the people of Joseph: of the tribe of the people of Manasseh a chief, Hanniel the son of Ephod.

24

וּלְמַטֵּה בְנֵי-אֶפְרַיִם נָשִׂיא קְמוּאֵל בֶּן-שִׁפְטָן

KJVAnd the prince of the tribe of the children of Ephraim, Kemuel the son of Shiphtan.

And of the tribe of the people of Ephraim a chief, Kemuel the son of Shiphtan.

25

וּלְמַטֵּה בְנֵי-זְבוּלֻן נָשִׂיא אֱלִיצָפָן בֶּן-פַּרְנָךְ

KJVAnd the prince of the tribe of the children of Zebulun, Elizaphan the son of Parnach.

Of the tribe of the people of Zebulun a chief, Elizaphan the son of Parnach.

וּלְמַטֵּה בְנֵי-יִשָּׂשכָר נָשִׂיא פַּלְטִיאֵל בֶּן-עַזָּן

KJVAnd the prince of the tribe of the children of Issachar, Paltiel the son of Azzan.

Of the tribe of the people of Issachar a chief, Paltiel the son of Azzan.

27

וּלְמַטֵּה בְנֵי-אָשֵׁר נָשִׂיא אֲחִיהוּד בֶּן-שְׁלֹמִי

KJVAnd the prince of the tribe of the children of Asher, Ahihud the son of Shelomi.

And of the tribe of the people of Asher a chief, Ahihud the son of Shelomi.

28

וּלְמַטֵּה בְנֵי-נַפְתָּלִי נָשִׂיא פְּדַהְאֵל בֶּן-עַמִּיהוּד

KJVAnd the prince of the tribe of the children of Naphtali, Pedahel the son of Ammihud.

Of the tribe of the people of Naphtali a chief, Pedahel the son of Ammihud.

29

אֵלֶּה אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה לְנַחֵל אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן

KJVThese are they whom the LORD commanded to divide the inheritance unto the children of Israel in the land of Canaan.

These are the men whom the LORD commanded to divide the inheritance for the people of Israel in the land of Canaan.
