1 Maccabees 6:3

καὶ ἦλθεν καὶ ἐζήτει καταλαβέσθαι τὴν πόλιν καὶ προνομεῦσαι αὐτήν, καὶ οὐκ ἠδυνάσθη, ὅτι ἐγνώσθη ὁ λόγος τοῖς ἐκ τῆς πόλεως,

Wherefore he came and sought to take the city, and to spoil it; but he was not able, because they of the city, having had warning thereof,

So he went there, seeking to capture the city and plunder it, but he could not, because the people of the city had been warned
