2 Maccabees 1:14

ὡς γὰρ συνοικήσων αὐτῇ παρεγένετο εἰς τὸν τόπον ὅ τε Ἀντίοχος καὶ οἱ σὺν αὐτῷ φίλοι χάριν τοῦ λαβεῖν τὰ χρήματα πλείονα εἰς φερνῆς λόγον
King James Version (KJV)

For Antiochus, as though he would marry her, came into the place, and his friends that were with him, to receive money in name of a dowry.

Modern English

Antiochus had come to that place pretending he would marry the goddess, so that he and his companions could collect the treasure as a dowry.
