2 Maccabees

2 Maccabees 11:7

King James Version (KJV)

Then Maccabeus himself first of all took weapons, exhorting the others that they would jeopard themselves together with him to help their brethren: so they went forth together with a willing mind.

Modern English

Maccabeus himself was the first to take up arms, urging the others to risk their lives alongside him to help their fellow countrymen, and so they set out together with willing hearts.
