2 Maccabees

2 Maccabees 14:26

King James Version (KJV)

But Alcimus, perceiving the love that was betwixt them, and considering the covenants that were made, came to Demetrius, and told him that Nicanor was not well affected toward the state; for that he had ordained Judas, a traitor to his realm, to be the king's successor.

Modern English

But Alcimus, noticing the friendship between them and aware of the treaty that had been made, went to Demetrius and told him that Nicanor was disloyal to the state, claiming he had appointed Judas, a traitor to the kingdom, as his own successor.
