2 Maccabees 14:28

προσπεσόντων δὲ τούτων τῷ Νικάνορι συνεκέχυτο καὶ δυσφόρως ἔφερεν, εἰ τὰ διεσταλμένα ἀθετήσει μηδὲν τἀνδρὸς ἠδικηκότος.
King James Version (KJV)

When this came to Nicanor's hearing, he was much confounded in himself, and took it grievously that he should make void the articles which were agreed upon, the man being in no fault.

Modern English

When this reached Nicanor, he was deeply troubled and distressed at having to break the agreement with a man who had done nothing wrong.
