2 Maccabees

2 Maccabees 14:8

King James Version (KJV)

First, verily for the unfeigned care I have of things pertaining to the king; and secondly, even for that I intend the good of mine own countrymen: for all our nation is in no small misery through the unadvised dealing of them aforesaid.

Modern English

first out of genuine concern for the king's interests, and second because I care about the welfare of my own countrymen, for our whole nation suffers no small misery through the reckless actions of these men.
