2 Maccabees 3:21

ἐλεεῖν δ’ ἦν τὴν τοῦ πλήθους παμμιγῆ πρόπτωσιν τήν τε τοῦ μεγάλως ἀγωνιῶντος ἀρχιερέως προσδοκίαν.

Then it would have pitied a man to see the falling down of the multitude of all sorts, and the fear of the high priest, being in such an agony.

Modern English

It would have moved anyone to pity, seeing the crowds of every kind falling to the ground and the high priest in such agony.
