2 Maccabees 6:29

τῶν δὲ ἀγόντων πρὸς αὐτὸν τὴν μικρῷ πρότερον εὐμένειαν εἰς δυσμένειαν μεταβαλόντων διὰ τὸ τοὺς προειρημένους λόγους, ὡς αὐτοὶ διελάμβανον, ἀπόνοιαν εἶναι,
King James Version (KJV)

They that led him changing the good will they bare him a little before into hatred, because the foresaid speeches proceeded, as they thought, from a desperate mind.

Modern English

Those who had escorted him, who only shortly before had shown him some goodwill, now turned to hatred, since they took his words as the ravings of a man in despair.
