2 Maccabees 8:1

Ιουδας δὲ ὁ καὶ Μακκαβαῖος καὶ οἱ σὺν αὐτῷ παρεισπορευόμενοι λεληθότως εἰς τὰς κώμας προσεκαλοῦντο τοὺς συγγενεῖς καὶ τοὺς μεμενηκότας ἐν τῷ Ιουδαισμῷ προσλαμβανόμενοι συνήγαγον εἰς ἑξακισχιλίους.

Then Judas Maccabeus, and they that were with him, went privily into the towns, and called their kinsfolks together, and took unto them all such as continued in the Jews' religion, and assembled about six thousand men.

Modern English

Meanwhile Judas Maccabeus and his companions slipped secretly into the villages, called their relatives together, and gathered to themselves all who had remained faithful to Judaism, assembling about six thousand men.
