Additions to Esther

Additions to Esther 3:27

King James Version (KJV)

Thou knowest my necessity: for I abhor the sign of my high estate, which is upon mine head in the days wherein I shew myself, and that I abhor it as a menstruous rag, and that I wear it not when I am private by myself.

Modern English

"You know my difficult position: I detest the symbol of my high rank that sits on my head on the days I appear in public; I loathe it like a filthy rag, and I do not wear it on the days I am alone."
