Sirach (Ecclesiasticus) 17:21

[Ἑλλ. — ὁ στίχος ἀπουσιάζει ἀπὸ τὸ κύριο κείμενο τῶν Ο΄ (Rahlfs)· προσθήκη τῆς παλαιᾶς Λατινικῆς παράδοσης, ὅπως ἀκολουθεῖ τὸ KJV] ὁ δὲ Κύριος οἰκτίρμων ὢν καὶ ἐπιστάμενος τὸ πλάσμα αὐτοῦ οὔτε ἀφῆκεν οὔτε ἐγκατέλιπεν αὐτούς, ἀλλὰ ἐφείσατο αὐτῶν.

But the Lord being gracious, and knowing his workmanship, neither left nor forsook them, but spared them.

Modern English

[But the Lord, being merciful and knowing what he had made, neither abandoned nor forsook them, but spared them.]
