Sirach (Ecclesiasticus)

Sirach (Ecclesiasticus) 23:12

King James Version (KJV)

There is a word that is clothed about with death: God grant that it be not found in the heritage of Jacob; for all such things shall be far from the godly, and they shall not wallow in their sins.

Modern English

There is a way of speaking clothed in death — may it never be found among the people of Jacob, for such things are far from the godly, who do not wallow in sin.
