Sirach (Ecclesiasticus)

Sirach (Ecclesiasticus) 25:23

King James Version (KJV)

A wicked woman abateth the courage, maketh an heavy countenance and a wounded heart: a woman that will not comfort her husband in distress maketh weak hands and feeble knees.

Modern English

A wicked woman crushes a man's spirit, brings a gloomy face and a wounded heart; a wife who will not comfort her husband in trouble leaves him weak-handed and feeble-kneed.
