Sirach (Ecclesiasticus)

Sirach (Ecclesiasticus) 26:5

King James Version (KJV)

There be three things that mine heart feareth; and for the fourth I was sore afraid: the slander of a city, the gathering together of an unruly multitude, and a false accusation: all these are worse than death.

Modern English

There are three things my heart fears, and a fourth I greatly dread: slander in a city, a mob out of control, and a false accusation — all these are worse than death.
