Sirach (Ecclesiasticus)

Sirach (Ecclesiasticus) 38:16

King James Version (KJV)

My son, let tears fall down over the dead, and begin to lament, as if thou hadst suffered great harm thyself; and then cover his body according to the custom, and neglect not his burial.

Modern English

My son, let your tears fall for the dead, and begin your mourning as if you yourself had suffered great loss; then, according to custom, prepare the body and do not neglect the burial.
