Sirach (Ecclesiasticus)

Sirach (Ecclesiasticus) 46:19

King James Version (KJV)

And before his long sleep he made protestations in the sight of the Lord and his anointed, I have not taken any man's goods, so much as a shoe: and no man did accuse him.

Modern English

Before his long sleep he declared before the Lord and his anointed, "I have not taken so much as a shoe from anyone" — and no one accused him of wrongdoing.
