Wisdom of Solomon

Wisdom of Solomon 12:27

King James Version (KJV)

For, look, for what things they grudged, when they were punished, that is, for them whom they thought to be gods; [now] being punished in them, when they saw it, they acknowledged him to be the true God, whom before they denied to know; and therefore came extreme damnation upon them.

Modern English

For when they were punished by the very things they had resented, the creatures they thought were gods, seeing themselves punished through those same things, they came to acknowledge as the true God the one they had previously refused to know; and so utter condemnation fell upon them.
