וַיֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֣יד אֶ֣ל הָֽאֱלֹהִ֡ים הֲל֡וֹא אֲנִ֣י אָמַ֣רְתִּי לִמְנ֣וֹת בָּ֠עָ֠ם וַאֲנִ֤י הוּא֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר חָטָ֔אתִי וְהָרֵ֣עַ הֲרֵע֔וֹתִי וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ הַצֹּ֣אן מֶ֣ה עָשׂ֑וּ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהַ֗י תְּהִי נָ֤א יָדְךָ֙ בִּ֣י וּבְבֵ֣ית אָבִ֔י וּבְעַמְּךָ֖ לֹ֥א לְמַגֵּפָֽה׃
And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father's house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.
Y David dijo a Dios: ¿No fui yo quien ordenó censar al pueblo? Soy yo quien ha pecado y ha cometido gran maldad. Pero estas ovejas, ¿qué han hecho? Oh SEÑOR mi Dios, que tu mano sea contra mí y contra la casa de mi padre, pero no envíes la plaga sobre tu pueblo.
