בֵּ֗אדַיִן קְרִ֤בוּ וְאָמְרִין֙ קֳדָ֣ם מַלְכָּ֔א עַל אֱסַ֣ר מַלְכָּ֔א הֲלָ֤א אֱסַ֙ר רְשַׁ֔מְתָּ דִּ֣י כָל אֱנָ֡שׁ דִּ֣י יִבְעֵ֡ה מִן כָּל אֱלָ֡הּ וֶאֱנָ֡שׁ עַד יֹֽומִין֩ תְּלָ֨תִ֜ין לָהֵ֣ן מִנָּ֔ךְ מַלְכָּ֖א יִתְרְמֵ֣א לְגֹ֖וב אַרְיָוָתָ֑א עָנֵ֤ה מַלְכָּא֙ וְאָמַ֔ר יַצִּ֤יבָא מִלְּתָא֙ כְּדָ֣ת מָדַ֣י וּפָרַ֡ס דִּ֣י לָ֣א תֶעְדֵּֽה׃
Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
Entonces se acercaron y dijeron ante el rey, respecto a la prohibición del rey: ¿No has firmado una prohibición de que cualquiera que durante treinta días dirija una petición a cualquier dios u hombre, excepto a ti, oh rey, sea arrojado al foso de los leones? El rey respondió y dijo: El asunto es firme, conforme a la ley de los medos y los persas, que no puede revocarse.
