Ὁ δὲ Παῦλος ἔφη πρὸς αὐτούς, Δείραντες ἡμᾶς δημοσίᾳ, ἀκατακρίτους, ἀνθρώπους Ῥωμαίους ὑπάρχοντας, ἔβαλον εἰς φυλακήν, καὶ νῦν λάθρᾳ ἡμᾶς ἐκβάλλουσιν; Οὐ γάρ· ἀλλὰ ἐλθόντες αὐτοὶ ἐξαγαγέτωσαν.
But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out.
Pero Pablo les dijo a los guardias: «Nos golpearon públicamente sin habernos juzgado, siendo nosotros ciudadanos romanos, y nos echaron en la cárcel. ¿Y ahora quieren sacarnos en secreto? ¡De ninguna manera! Que vengan ellos mismos a escoltarnos».
