Daniel 1:5

וַיְמַ֣ן לָהֶ֣ם הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ דְּבַר יוֹם֩ בְּיוֹמ֨וֹ מִפַּ֜ת בַּג הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ וּמִיֵּ֣ין מִשְׁתָּ֔יו וּלְגַדְּלָ֖ם שָׁנִ֣ים שָׁל֑וֹשׁ וּמִקְצָתָ֕ם יַעַמְד֖וּ לִפְנֵ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
vayman lahem hamelek dbar yvom byvomvo mipat bag hamelek vmiyeyn mishtayv vlgadlam shaniym shalvosh vmiqṣatam yaʿamdv lipney hamelek
King James Version (KJV)

And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king's meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.

Modern English

The king assigned them a daily portion of the food that the king ate, and of the wine that he drank. They were to be educated for three years, and at the end of that time they were to stand before the king.
