Ecclesiastes 9:5

כִּ֧י הַחַיִּ֛ים יוֹדְעִ֖ים שֶׁיָּמֻ֑תוּ וְהַמֵּתִ֞ים אֵינָ֣ם יוֹדְעִ֣ים מְא֗וּמָה וְאֵין ע֤וֹד לָהֶם֙ שָׂכָ֔ר כִּ֥י נִשְׁכַּ֖ח זִכְרָֽם׃
kiy haḥayiym yvodʿiym sheyamutv vhametiym ʾeynam yvodʿiym mʾvmah vʾeyn ʿvod lahem shakar kiy nishkaḥ zikram
King James Version (KJV)

For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

Modern English

For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten.
