וַיִּשְׂא֤וּ אֶת עֵינֵיהֶם֙ מֵרָח֔וֹק וְלֹ֥א הִכִּירֻ֖הוּ וַיִּשְׂאוּ֙ קוֹלָ֔ם וַיִּבְכּ֑וּ וַיִּקְרְע֗וּ אִ֚ישׁ מְעִל֔וֹ וַיִּזְרְק֥וּ עָפָ֛ר עַל רָאשֵׁיהֶ֖ם הַשָּׁמָֽיְמָה׃
vayishʾv ʾet ʿeyneyhem meraḥvoq vloʾ hikiyruhv vayishʾv qvolam vayibkv vayiqrʿv ʾiysh mʿilvo vayizrqv ʿapar ʿal raʾsheyhem hashamaymah

And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.

Modern English

And when they saw him from a distance, they did not recognize him. And they raised their voices and wept, and they tore their robes and sprinkled dust on their heads toward heaven.
