Nehemiah 1:3

וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ לִ֡י הַשְּׁאֵרִית֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר נִשְׁאֲר֤וּ מִן הַשְּׁבִי֙ שָׁ֣ם בַּמְּדִינָ֔ה בְּרָעָ֥ה גְדֹלָ֖ה וּבְחֶרְפָּ֑ה וְחוֹמַ֣ת יְרוּשָׁלִַ֗ם מְפֹרֶ֙צֶת֙ וּשְׁעָרֶ֔יהָ נִצְּת֖וּ בָּאֵֽשׁ׃
vayoʾmrv liy hashʾeriyt ʾasher nishʾarv min hashbiy sham bamdiynah braʿah gdolah vbḥerpah vḥvomat yrvshaliam mporeṣet vshʿareyha niṣtv baʾesh
King James Version (KJV)

And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.

Modern English

And they said to me: The remnant there in the province who had survived the exile is in great trouble and shame. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates are destroyed by fire.
