לַמְנַצֵּ֗חַ לִבְנֵי קֹ֫רַח מַ֥שְׂכִּיל׃
KJVTo the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, Maschil.
To the choirmaster. A Maskil of the Sons of Korah.

אֱלֹהִ֤ים ׀ בְּאָזְנֵ֣ינוּ שָׁ֭מַעְנוּ אֲבוֹתֵ֣ינוּ סִפְּרוּ לָ֑נוּ פֹּ֥עַל פָּ֝עַ֗לְתָּ בִימֵיהֶ֗ם בִּ֝ימֵ֗י קֶֽדֶם׃
KJVWe have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.
O God, we have heard with our ears, our fathers have told us, what deeds you performed in their days, in the days of old:

אַ֭תָּה יָדְךָ֣ גּוֹיִ֣ם הוֹרַ֑שְׁתָּ וַתִּטָּעֵ֗ם תָּרַ֥ע לְ֝אֻמִּ֗ים וַֽתְּשַׁלְּחֵֽם׃
KJVHow thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.
you with your own hand drove out the nations, but them you planted; you afflicted the peoples, but them you set free;
4
כִּ֤י לֹ֥א בְחַרְבָּ֗ם יָ֫רְשׁ֥וּ אָ֗רֶץ וּ֭זְרוֹעָם לֹא הוֹשִׁ֣יעָה לָּ֑מוֹ כִּ֤י יְמִינְךָ֨ וּזְרוֹעֲךָ֗ וְ֝א֣וֹר פָּנֶ֗יךָ כִּ֣י רְצִיתָֽם׃
KJVFor they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.
for not by their own sword did they win the land, nor did their own arm save them, but your right hand and your arm, and the light of your face, for you delighted in them.

אַתָּה הוּא מַלְכִּ֥י אֱלֹהִ֑ים צַוֵּ֥ה יְ֝שׁוּע֗וֹת יַעֲקֹֽב׃
KJVThou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.
You are my King, O God; ordain salvation for Jacob!

בְּ֭ךָ צָרֵ֣ינוּ נְנַגֵּ֑חַ בְּ֝שִׁמְךָ֗ נָב֥וּס קָמֵֽינוּ׃
KJVThrough thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.
Through you we push down our foes; through your name we tread down those who rise up against us.
7
כִּ֤י לֹ֣א בְ֭קַשְׁתִּי אֶבְטָ֑ח וְ֝חַרְבִּ֗י לֹ֣א תוֹשִׁיעֵֽנִי׃
KJVFor I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.
For not in my bow do I trust, nor can my sword save me.
8
כִּ֣י הוֹשַׁ֣עְתָּנוּ מִצָּרֵ֑ינוּ וּמְשַׂנְאֵ֥ינוּ הֱ֝בִישֽׁוֹתָ׃
KJVBut thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.
But you have saved us from our foes and have put to shame those who hate us.
9
בֵּ֭אלֹהִים הִֽלַּ֣לְנוּ כָל הַיּ֑וֹם וְשִׁמְךָ֖ לְעוֹלָ֣ם נוֹדֶֽה׃
KJVIn God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.
In God we have boasted continually, and we will give thanks to your name forever. Selah
10
אַף זָנַ֥חְתָּ וַתַּכְלִימֵ֑נוּ וְלֹא תֵ֝צֵ֗א בְּצִבְאוֹתֵֽינוּ׃
KJVBut thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies.
But you have rejected and disgraced us and have not gone out with our armies.
11
תְּשִׁיבֵ֥נוּ אָ֗חוֹר מִנִּי צָ֑ר וּמְשַׂנְאֵ֥ינוּ שָׁ֝סוּ לָמֽוֹ׃
KJVThou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.
You have made us turn back from the foe, and those who hate us have gotten spoil.
12
תִּ֭תְּנֵנוּ כְּצֹ֣אן מַאֲכָ֑ל וּבַגּוֹיִ֥ם זֵ֝רִיתָֽנוּ׃
KJVThou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen.
You have made us like sheep for slaughter and have scattered us among the nations.
13
תִּמְכֹּ֣ר עַמְּךָ֣ בְלֹא הֽוֹן וְלֹא רִ֝בִּ֗יתָ בִּמְחִירֵיהֶֽם׃
KJVThou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price.
You have sold your people for a trifle, demanding no high price for them.
14
תְּשִׂימֵ֣נוּ חֶרְפָּ֣ה לִשְׁכֵנֵ֑ינוּ לַ֝עַג וָקֶ֗לֶס לִסְבִיבוֹתֵֽינוּ׃
KJVThou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.
You have made us the taunt of our neighbors, the derision and scorn of those around us.
15
תְּשִׂימֵ֣נוּ מָשָׁ֣ל בַּגּוֹיִ֑ם מְנ֖וֹד רֹ֣אשׁ בַּלְאֻמִּֽים׃
KJVThou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.
You have made us a byword among the nations, a laughingstock among the peoples.
16
כָּל הַ֭יּוֹם כְּלִמָּתִ֣י נֶגְדִּ֑י וּבֹ֖שֶׁת פָּנַ֣י כִּסָּֽתְנִי׃
KJVMy confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,
All day long my disgrace is before me, and shame has covered my face
17
מִקּ֥וֹל מְחָרֵ֗ף וּמְגַ֫דֵּ֥ף מִפְּנֵ֥י אוֹיֵ֗ב וּמִתְנַקֵּֽם׃
KJVFor the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger.
at the sound of the taunter and reviler, at the sight of the enemy and the avenger.
18
כָּל זֹ֣את בָּ֭אַתְנוּ וְלֹ֣א שְׁכַחְנ֑וּךָ וְלֹא שִׁ֖קַּרְנוּ בִּבְרִיתֶֽךָ׃
KJVAll this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.
All this has come upon us, though we have not forgotten you, and we have not been false to your covenant.
19
לֹֽא נָ֭סוֹג אָח֣וֹר לִבֵּ֑נוּ וַ֝תֵּ֗ט אֲשֻׁרֵ֥ינוּ מִנִּי אָרְחֶֽךָ׃
KJVOur heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;
Our heart has not turned back, nor have our steps departed from your way;
20
כִּ֣י דִ֭כִּיתָנוּ בִּמְק֥וֹם תַּנִּ֑ים וַ֝תְּכַ֗ס עָלֵ֥ינוּ בְצַלְמָֽוֶת׃
KJVThough thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.
yet you have broken us in the place of jackals and covered us with the shadow of death.
21
אִם שָׁ֭כַחְנוּ שֵׁ֣ם אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ וַ֝נִּפְרֹ֗שׂ כַּפֵּ֥ינוּ לְאֵ֥ל זָֽר׃
KJVIf we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;
If we had forgotten the name of our God or spread out our hands to a foreign god,
22
הֲלֹ֣א אֱלֹהִ֣ים יַחֲקָר זֹ֑את כִּי הֽוּא יֹ֝דֵ֗עַ תַּעֲלֻמ֥וֹת לֵֽב׃
KJVShall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.
would not God discover this? For he knows the secrets of the heart.
23
כִּ֥י עָלֶ֗יךָ הֹ֫רַ֥גְנוּ כָּל הַ֭יּוֹם נֶחְשַׁ֣בְנוּ כְּצֹ֣אן טִבְחָ֑ה׃
KJVYea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.
Yet for your sake we are killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.
24
ע֥וּרָה לָ֗מָּה תִ֫ישַׁ֥ן אֲדֹנָ֑י הָ֝קִ֗יצָה אַל תִּזְנַ֥ח לָנֶֽצַח׃
KJVAwake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever.
Awake! Why are you sleeping, O Lord? Rouse yourself! Do not reject us forever!
25
לָ֭מָּה פָנֶ֣יךָ תַסְתִּ֑יר תִּ֝שְׁכַּ֗ח עָנְיֵ֥נוּ וְלַחֲצֵֽנוּ׃
KJVWherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?
Why do you hide your face? Why do you forget our affliction and oppression?
26
כִּ֣י שָׁ֭חָה לֶעָפָ֣ר נַפְשֵׁ֑נוּ דָּבְקָ֖ה לָאָ֣רֶץ בִּטְנֵֽנוּ׃
KJVFor our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth.
For our soul is bowed down to the dust; our belly clings to the ground.
27
ק֭וּמָה עֶזְרָ֣תָה לָּ֑נוּ וּ֝פְדֵ֗נוּ לְמַ֣עַן חַסְדֶּֽךָ׃
KJVArise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies' sake.
Rise up; come to our help! Redeem us for the sake of your steadfast love!
