1 John 4:10

ἐν τούτῳ ἐστὶν ἡ ἀγάπη, οὐχ ὅτι ἡμεῖς ἠγαπήσαμεν τὸν Θεόν, ἀλλ' ὅτι αὐτὸς ἠγάπησεν ἡμᾶς, καὶ ἀπέστειλε τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ ἱλασμὸν περὶ τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν ἡμῶν.
en toytō estin ē agapē, oych oti ēmeis ēgapēsamen ton Theon, all' oti aytos ēgapēsen ēmas, kai apesteile ton yion aytoy ilasmon peri tōn amartiōn ēmōn.

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Modern English

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
