Romans 8:24

Τῇ γὰρ ἐλπίδι ἐσώθημεν· ἐλπὶς δὲ βλεπομένη οὐκ ἔστιν ἐλπίς· ὃ γὰρ βλέπει τις, τί καὶ ἐλπίζει;

Tē gar elpidi esōthēmen· elpis de blepomenē oyk estin elpis· o gar blepei tis, ti kai elpizei;

For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

Modern English

For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have?
