2 Maccabees

2 Maccabees 7:27

King James Version (KJV)

But she bowing herself toward him, laughing the cruel tyrant to scorn, spake in her country language on this manner; O my son, have pity upon me that bare thee nine months in my womb, and gave thee suck three years, and nourished thee, and brought thee up unto this age, and endured the troubles of education.

Modern English

But leaning close to him and mocking the cruel tyrant, she spoke to him in their native language: My son, take pity on me, who carried you nine months in my womb, nursed you for three years, raised you, brought you up to this age, and provided for all your needs.
