2 Maccabees

2 Maccabees 7:28

King James Version (KJV)

I beseech thee, my son, look upon the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, and consider that God made them of things that were not; and so was mankind made likewise.

Modern English

I beg you, my child, look at the sky and the earth and everything in them, and understand that God did not make them out of things that already existed, and that mankind came into being in the same way.
