בֶּן שְׁתֵּ֥ים עֶשְׂרֵ֛ה שָׁנָ֖ה מְנַשֶּׁ֣ה בְמָלְכ֑וֹ וַחֲמִשִּׁ֤ים וְחָמֵשׁ֙ שָׁנָ֔ה מָלַ֖ךְ בִּירוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃

KJVManasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem:

Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem.

וַ֠יַּ֡עַשׂ הָ֠רַ֡ע בְּ֠עֵינֵ֡י יְהוָ֡ה כְּ֠תוֹעֲב֡וֹת הַ֠גּוֹיִ֡ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר הוֹרִ֡ישׁ יְהוָ֡ה מִ֠פְּנֵ֡י בְּנֵ֡י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJVBut did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, like unto the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.

And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to the abominations of the nations whom the LORD drove out before the people of Israel.

וַ֠יָּ֠שָׁ֡ב וַ֠יִּבֶ֡ן אֶ֠ת הַ֠בָּמ֡וֹת אֲשֶׁ֣ר נִ֠תַּ֡ץ יְחִזְקִיָּ֡הוּ אָבִ֡יו וַ֠יָּ֠קֶם֩ מִזְבְּח֨וֹת לַ֠בְּ֠עָלִ֡ים וַ֠יַּ֠עַשׂ֩ אֲשֵׁר֨וֹת וַ֠יִּ֠שְׁתַּ֡חוּ לְ֠כָ֠ל צְבָ֠א הַ֠שָּׁמַ֡יִם וַ֠יַּ֠עֲבֹ֡ד אֹתָֽם׃

KJVFor he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he reared up altars for Baalim, and made groves, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.

For he rebuilt the high places that his father Hezekiah had broken down, and he erected altars to the Baals, and made Asheroth, and worshiped all the host of heaven and served them.

וּ֠בָנָ֡ה מִזְבְּח֡וֹת בְּ֠בֵ֠ית יְהוָ֡ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר אָמַ֡ר יְהוָ֡ה בִּ֠ירוּשָׁלַ֡͏ִם יִהְיֶ֡ה שְׁמִ֡י לְ֠עוֹלָֽם׃

KJVAlso he built altars in the house of the LORD, whereof the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever.

And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD had said: In Jerusalem shall my name be forever.

וַ֠יִּ֠בֶן֩ מִזְבְּח֨וֹת לְ֠כָ֠ל צְ֠בָ֠א הַ֠שָּׁמַ֡יִם בִּ֠שְׁתֵּ֡י חַצְר֡וֹת בֵּ֠ית יְהוָֽה׃

KJVAnd he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.

וְה֤וּא הֶעֱבִ֨יר אֶ֠ת בָּנָ֡יו בָּ֠אֵ֡שׁ בְּ֠גֵ֡יא בֶ֠ן הִנֹּ֡ם וְ֠עוֹנֵ֡ן וְ֠נִחֵ֡שׁ וְ֠כִשֵּׁ֡ף וְ֠עָשָׂ֡ה אוֹב֩ וְ֨יִדְּעוֹנִ֡י הִרְבָּ֡ה לַ֠עֲשׂ֡וֹת הָ֠רַ֡ע בְּ֠עֵינֵ֡י יְהוָ֡ה לְ֠הַ֠כְעִיסֽוֹ׃

KJVAlso he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

And he burned his sons as an offering in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, and used fortune-telling and omens and sorcery, and dealt with mediums and with necromancers. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking him to anger.

וַ֠יָּ֠שֶׂם֩ אֶ֨ת פֶּ֧סֶל הַ֠סֶּ֡מֶל אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָ֠שָׂ֡ה בְּ֠בֵ֠ית הָ֠אֱלֹ֠הִ֡ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר אָמַ֡ר אֱלֹהִ֡ים אֶ֠ל דָּוִ֡יד וְ֠אֶ֠ל שְׁלֹמֹ֡ה בְנ֡וֹ בַּ֠בַּ֠יִת הַ֠זֶּ֡ה וּ֠בִ֠ירוּשָׁלַ֡͏ִם אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּחַ֡רְתִּי מִ֠כֹּ֠ל שִׁבְטֵ֡י יִ֠שְׂרָאֵ֡ל אָשִׂ֡ים אֶ֠ת שְׁמִ֡י לְ֠עוֹלָֽם׃

KJVAnd he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:

And the carved image of the idol that he had made he set in the house of God, of which God said to David and to Solomon his son: In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever,

וְלֹ֡א אוֹסִ֡יף לְ֠הָסִ֡יר אֶ֠ת רֶ֠גֶל יִ֠שְׂרָאֵ֡ל מֵ֠עַ֠ל הָ֠אֲדָמָ֡ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֶ֠עֱמַ֡דְתִּי לַ֠אֲבוֹתֵיכֶ֡ם רַ֠ק אִ֠ם יִשְׁמְר֡וּ לַ֠עֲשׂ֡וֹת אֵ֡ת כָּ֠ל אֲשֶׁ֠ר צִ֠וִּיתִ֡ים לְ֠כָ֠ל הַ֠תּוֹרָ֡ה וְ֠הַ֠חֻקִּ֡ים וְ֠הַ֠מִּשְׁפָּטִ֡ים בְּ֠יַד מֹשֶֽׁה׃

KJVNeither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from out of the land which I have appointed for your fathers; so that they will take heed to do all that I have commanded them, according to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses.

and I will not remove the foot of Israel from the land that I appointed for your fathers, if only they will be careful to do all that I have commanded them, all the Law, the statutes, and the rules given through Moses.

וַ֠יַּ֠תְּעֵ֡ה מְנַשֶּׁ֡ה אֶ֠ת יְ֠הוּדָ֡ה וְ֠יֹשְׁבֵ֡י יְרוּשָׁלַ֡͏ִם לַ֠עֲשׂ֡וֹת רָ֠ע מִ֠ן הַ֠גּ֠וֹיִ֡ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר הִ֠שְׁמִ֡יד יְהוָ֡ה מִ֠פְּנֵ֡י בְּנֵ֡י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJVSo Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, and to do worse than the heathen, whom the LORD had destroyed before the children of Israel.

Manasseh led Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem astray, to do more evil than the nations whom the LORD destroyed before the people of Israel.

וַ֠יְדַבֵּ֡ר יְהוָ֡ה אֶ֠ל מְנַשֶּׁ֡ה וְ֠אֶ֠ל עַמּ֡וֹ וְ֠לֹ֡א הִקְשִׁ֡יבוּ׃

KJVAnd the LORD spake to Manasseh, and to his people: but they would not hearken.

The LORD spoke to Manasseh and to his people, but they paid no attention.

וַ֠יָּבֵ֡א יְהוָ֡ה עֲלֵיהֶ֡ם אֶ֠ת שָׂרֵ֡י הַ֠צָּ֠בָ֡א אֲשֶׁ֣ר לַ֠מֶּ֠לֶ֠ךְ אַשּׁ֡וּר וַ֠יִּלְכְּד֡וּ אֶ֠ת מְנַשֶּׁ֡ה בַּ֠חֹחִ֡ים וַ֠יַּ֠אַסְרֻ֡הוּ בַ֠נְּחֻ֠שְׁתַּ֡יִם וַ֠יּוֹלִיכֻ֡הוּ בָּבֶֽלָה׃

KJVWherefore the LORD brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon.

Therefore the LORD brought upon them the commanders of the army of the king of Assyria, who captured Manasseh with hooks and bound him with chains of bronze and brought him to Babylon.

וּכְהָ֠צֵ֡ר ל֡וֹ חִלָּ֡ה אֶ֠ת פְּנֵ֡י יְהוָ֡ה אֱלֹ֠הָ֡יו וַ֠יִּ֠כָּנַ֡ע מְ֠אֹ֡ד מִ֠לִּ֠פְנֵ֡י אֱלֹ֠הֵ֡י אֲבֹתָֽיו׃

KJVAnd when he was in affliction, he besought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers,

And when he was in distress, he entreated the favor of the LORD his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.

וַ֠יִּ֠תְפַּלֵּ֡ל אֵ֠לָ֡יו וַ֠יֵּעָ֡תֶר לוֹ֩ וַ֨יִּשְׁמַ֧ע תְּחִנָּת֛וֹ וַ֠יְשִׁיבֵ֡הוּ יְרוּשָׁלַ֡͏ִמָה לְ֠מַלְכוּת֑וֹ וַ֠יֵּדַ֡ע מְנַשֶּׁ֡ה כִּ֠י יְהוָ֡ה ה֡וּא הָ֠אֱלֹהִֽים׃

KJVAnd prayed unto him: and he was intreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD he was God.

He prayed to him, and God was moved by his entreaty and heard his plea and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD was God.

וְ֠אַחֲרֵ֡י כֵ֡ן בָּ֠נָ֡ה חוֹמָ֡ה חִיצוֹנָ֡ה לְ֠עִ֠יר דָּוִ֡יד מַ֠עֲרָבָ֡ה לְ֠גִיח֡וֹן בַּ֠נַּ֡חַל וְ֠לָ֠ב֡וֹא שַׁ֠עַ֠ר הַ֠דָּגִ֡ים וַ֠יָּ֠סֶ֡ב לָ֠עֹ֠פֶ֡ל וַ֠יַּ֠גְבִּ֡יהֶהָ מְ֠אֹ֡ד וַ֠יָּ֠שֶׂם שָׂרֵ֡י חַ֠יִ֠ל בְּ֠כָ֠ל הֶ֠עָרִ֡ים הַ֠בְּצֻר֡וֹת בִּ֠יהוּדָֽה׃

KJVNow after this he built a wall without the city of David, on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entering in at the fish gate, and compassed about Ophel, and raised it up a very great height, and put captains of war in all the fenced cities of Judah.

Afterward he built an outer wall for the city of David west of Gihon, in the valley, and for the entrance into the Fish Gate, and carried it around Ophel, and raised it to a very great height. He also put commanders of the army in all the fortified cities in Judah.

וַ֠יָּ֠סַ֡ר אֶ֠ת אֱלֹהֵ֡י הַ֠נֵּכָ֡ר וְ֠אֶ֠ת הַ֠סֶּ֠מֶ֡ל מִ֠בֵּ֠ית יְהוָ֡ה וְ֠כָ֠ל הַ֠מִּ֠זְבְּח֡וֹת אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּ֠נָ֡ה בְּ֠הַ֠ר בֵּ֠ית יְהוָ֡ה וּ֠בִ֠ירוּשָׁלַ֡͏ִם וַ֠יַּ֠שְׁלֵ֡ךְ חוּץ לָ֠עִֽיר׃

KJVAnd he took away the strange gods, and the idol out of the house of the LORD, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of the LORD, and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city.

And he took away the foreign gods and the idol from the house of the LORD, and all the altars that he had built on the mountain of the house of the LORD and in Jerusalem, and he threw them outside of the city.

וַ֠יָּ֠כֶ֡ן אֶ֠ת מִזְבַּ֡ח יְהוָ֡ה וַ֠יִּ֠זְבַּ֡ח עָ֠לָ֡יו זִבְחֵ֡י שְׁלָמִ֡ים וְ֠תוֹד֡וֹת וַ֠יֹּ֡אמֶר לִ֠יהוּדָ֡ה לַ֠עֲבֹ֡ד אֶ֠ת יְהוָ֡ה אֱלֹהֵ֡י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJVAnd he repaired the altar of the LORD, and sacrificed thereon peace offerings and thank offerings, and commanded Judah to serve the LORD God of Israel.

He also restored the altar of the LORD and offered on it sacrifices of peace offerings and of thanksgiving, and he commanded Judah to serve the LORD, the God of Israel.

אֲבָ֡ל עוֹד֩ הָ֨עָ֜ם זֹ֠בְחִ֡ים בַּ֠בָּמ֡וֹת רַ֠ק לַ֠יהוָ֡ה אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃

KJVNevertheless the people did sacrifice still in the high places, yet unto the LORD their God only.

Nevertheless, the people still sacrificed at the high places, but only to the LORD their God.

וְיֶ֣תֶר דִּבְרֵ֡י מְנַשֶּׁ֡ה וּ֠תְפִלָּת֡וֹ אֶ֠ל אֱלֹ֠הָ֡יו וְ֠דִבְרֵ֡י הַ֠חֹזִ֡ים הַ֠מְדַבְּרִ֡ים אֵ֠לָ֡יו בְּ֠שֵׁ֡ם יְהוָ֡ה אֱלֹהֵ֡י יִ֠שְׂרָאֵ֡ל הִנָּ֡ם עַ֠ל דִּבְרֵ֡י מַלְכֵ֡י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJVNow the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer unto his God, and the words of the seers that spake to him in the name of the LORD God of Israel, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel.

Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer to his God, and the words of the seers who spoke to him in the name of the LORD, the God of Israel, behold, they are in the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.

וּ֠תְפִלָּת֡וֹ וְ֠הֵעָ֡תֶר ל֡וֹ וְ֠כָ֠ל חַטָּאת֡וֹ וּ֠מַ֠עְל֡וֹ וְ֠הַ֠מְּקֹמ֡וֹת אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּ֠נָ֡ה בָ֠הֶ֡ם בָּמ֡וֹת וְ֠הֶ֠עֱמִ֡יד הָ֠אֲשֵׁרִ֡ים וְ֠הַ֠פְּסִילִ֡ים לִ֠פְנֵ֡י הִ֠כָּנְע֡וֹ הִנָּ֡ם כְּ֠תוּבִ֡ים עַ֠ל דִּבְרֵ֡י חוֹזָֽי׃

KJVHis prayer also, and how God was intreated of him, and all his sins, and his trespass, and the places wherein he built high places, and set up groves and graven images, before he was humbled: behold, they are written among the sayings of the seers.

וַ֠יִּשְׁכַּ֡ב מְנַשֶּׁ֡ה עִ֠ם אֲבֹתָ֡יו וַ֠יִּקְבְּר֡וּהוּ בֵּ֠יתֽוֹ וַ֠יִּמְלֹ֡ךְ אָמ֡וֹן בְּנ֡וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃

KJVSo Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house: and Amon his son reigned in his stead.

And Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his house. And Amon his son reigned in his place.

בֶּ֨ן עֶשְׂרִ֧ים וּשְׁתַּ֛יִם שָׁנָ֖ה אָמ֣וֹן בְּמָלְכ֑וֹ וּשְׁתַּ֥יִם שָׁנִ֛ים מָלַ֖ךְ בִּירוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃

KJVBut he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as did Manasseh his father: for Amon sacrificed unto all the carved images which Manasseh his father had made, and served them;

וְלֹ֡א נִ֠כְנַ֡ע מִ֠לִּ֠פְנֵ֡י יְהוָ֡ה כְּ֠הִ֠כָּנַ֡ע מְנַשֶּׁ֡ה אָבִ֡יו כִּ֠י ה֠וּא אָמ֡וֹן הִרְבָּ֡ה אַשְׁמָֽה׃

KJVAnd humbled not himself before the LORD, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself; but Amon trespassed more and more.

And did not humble himself before the LORD, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself, but this Amon incurred guilt more and more.

וַ֠יִּקְשְׁר֡וּ עָ֠לָ֡יו עֲבָדָ֡יו וַ֠יְמִיתֻ֡הוּ בֵּ֠יתֽוֹ׃

KJVAnd his servants conspired against him, and slew him in his own house.

And his servants conspired against him and put him to death in his house.

וַ֠יַּכּ֡וּ עַ֠ם הָ֠אָ֡רֶץ אֶ֠ת כָּ֠ל הַ֠קֹּ֠שְׁרִ֡ים עַ֠ל הַ֠מֶּ֠לֶ֠ךְ אָמ֡וֹן וַ֠יַּמְלִ֡יכוּ עַ֠ם הָ֠אָ֡רֶץ אֶ֠ת יֹ֠אשִׁיָּ֡הוּ בְנ֡וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃

KJVBut the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.

But the people of the land struck down all those who had conspired against King Amon. And the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his place.
